AllSky generally I'd agree with you on the fans outside the fence, even though I know alot of them. But I give them a break this time because the stands were past capacity and from the view on top of the pressbox, I didn't see many places left around the field to stand without crowding close to the MU sideline. It looked like one of the photos from when MC used to play carson-newman.

battered.....sorry I missed you Sat. I did look for you a few times but always got caught up talking with old teammates and friends.
There was enough room IMO that those over the fence could have come inside. My main gripe was that most of them seemed oblivious to the fact that a game was going on. I was there before 9:00 AM to make sure I got a good tailgating spot. I like to partake of the festivities as much as anyone. Just felt like late in the game, those folks could have gotten a little more involved.

Congrads to the MU on the win.  It is amazing that they were overcome a team running for 450 yards against them.  Yes MC is relatively young, but we can't use that as a crutch to lean on.  I know coach I won't let them use that excuse.  Batteredbard, do you know why the second team QB was in with under a minute left to go in the game?  It was great to see the Scots come back.  Their running game looked great!  The turnout was pretty good for homecoming.  It was great to get to see a lot of old friends.

Old Ref

I would like to express my appreciation to all and to inform you that I will be leaving this board as a member. I appreciate Division III football and especially the players who give so much of themselves to the game. Although my time has been primarily in Div.1 and High School, I must say that D-III is the one I enjoy watching the most. It offers to kids across the nation, who may not have quite the size or talent to play at a Div.1 level, the opportunity to expand their dreams and ambitions, to participate at the next level. It is real football!! My reasons for leaving has nothing to do with you guys or your comments, but rather to participate in a committee to improve the game and officiating. Who knows, maybe it can also improve Div III. Men, it has been a pleasure and I wish the best of luck to you and your team for the remainder of the season. Pat, I must say to you, Thanks for all you do to publicize D-III Football. I will be watching and observing this board, simply because I love it.   :) :)

You will be missed Old Ref!  Good luck with the committee.

I came down hard on the team a few weeks ago for a sloppy win and another fan stated that "a win is a win". Well if you continue to play that way and win then eventually it will come back to bite you. Turnovers in the red zone killed us and I don't know where the DC came from but this year D is by far the worst in CNU history.

I am not trying to kick the team while they are down by no means. I was at the game and the old players gave them our all in the stands and before they took the field.  Being a guy that played defense at cnu and being a guy that played on many offensively challenged teams, 32 points in a conference game at home on freaking homecoming is more than enough to win a ball game. It's frustrating to see a guy like Matt Long, arguably the best playmaker on defense on the bench and then only after we give up a 35 yard pass play does he get put in.

People may get tired of me referencing CNU's brief past but our defense had a certain arrogance and determination to be the best and it's disappointing because I just don't see it with these guys. To put the 42 points into perspective last years team gave up 31 points in the first half to Averett in their conference showdown. Those guys came out 2nd half with that CNU defensive pride and shut AU out because they were determined to win that game. I know a poster told me before on here that I should be happy with our success in the past. But I AM SORRY I HATED LOSING THEN AND I HATE IT EVEN MORE THAT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

Good luck the rest of the way Captains finish up the season strong.

Uncle Jessie

I'm glad to see the CNU coach is fine and well. Some things are just more important than a win/loss for a football team. I'm sure it had to be scary for his wife and kids.

is su still running the wing t :) - on nov 10 i'd like them to go back to playing offense the way they did last year and in the early part of this season, please :)

Congrats to SU on their win over AU. I honestly can't figure out why they haven't won more games this year. They have a good back that is hard to bring down and the defense looked very good.

Didn't see much wing T. More passing than expected. Lots of power running out of the I.

bard - i like this headline..."Lowly Monarchs enact Scots' alumni affair jinx"...maybe it will provide some fodder for the monarchs to win out and carry that momentum into next season and show everyone just how "lowly" they are - i'm sure you didn't mean it to sound disrespectful of a methodist team which has been unable to make the one or two plays each game it takes to win close games for most of the season (until saturday), but something about seeing the word "lowly" attached to the monarchs just strikes me that way...

they were interesting articles and both provided a great account of the game - some of it was a bit hard to read...especially the parts written in whinese (which frequently uses words like "fluke", "jinx" and "luck" and phrases like "they didn't win, we lost")

in all seriousness, though, you guys really cover m'ville well...i wish mu could get 1/10 the press that the scots do, but with 2 local d2 programs and a soon-to-be 1aa (non-scholarship) program, i think the monarchs will have to make due with what they've got - keep up the great work!

Yeah well you didn't expect him to rip a 4 point loss now did ya?   ;D  I'll give it to Methodist they won, but anytime a team rushes for 450 yards you expect that team to win.  I still think if we played Methodist 10 times we would win 9 of them, but I am a fan so I will be just a tad biast.  It seemed like Maryville was a more physical team than Methodist, our secondary just didn't come up big when we needed them.  Oh well, on to the next week...

En-You were are you, I am out numbered  here and everyone is guning for us, even though we are the worst team in the conference.
Not so fast Kickerdad...  it's kinda like the CNU-NCWC debate: Until you knock SU off for last place, we hold the crown.  Until you've put in the time with 9 straight losses and a 4-21 record, you can't touch SU's firm hold on last place...  it's kind of like a dynasty.  ;D ;D ;D

I guess we knocked you off the top (or should I say bottom) of the hill.

never thought the dynasty would end..   lol    ;)

Too little, too late. We should have made the adjustments after, say...  the second play of the Catholic game...  the D's worked hard all year long - but you can only be out there but for so long.

which is not to be confused with Greensboroese.  (the deadly 1-2-3 combo of whinese, a slight misuse of the english language, and interesting formulas predicting the outcome of what has already happened)   ;D
