It was mentioned two weeks ago on the Wesley pregameradio show that Wesley was in discussions with  CNU as well as Ithaca as possible opponents..

This is weird - there hasn't been but one post on here since Saturday night. There is still one week left in the season but it appears that everyone has packed up and either gone to the ODAC board or Basketball board. There is some good games left to be played this final week.

Hum......let see if I can start something............ ;) ::)

Averett is going to pull an upset in TN this week against the Scots :D
(That ought to get someone fired up)

On a serious note - from what I have observed from watching both CNU and Ferrum play against Averett this year; CNU better have their act together agains Ferrum. In my opinion this would be the game to watch this week. Two hard hitting lines going head to toe, and both teams capable of running and passing the ball. Ferrum defenders better watch number 3. He is everywhere and being that he is a head shorter than the rest of the team, he seems to get lost in the crowd and finds the opening everytime.

I was away on vacation for the Shenandoah-Maryville game (mercifully), so I'm hoping someone can explain the coaching rationale behind this decision (if it actually took place);

Fourth quarter, and SU trails 21-7. With about 10 minutes to go, SU recovers a fumble deep in Maryville territory. On 4th and 5, from the Maryville 13, trailing 21-7 with about 9 minutes to go, SU kicks a field goal???

Am I wrong or is this a sign of a team (or a coach) that's simply given up?

Most likely he was hoping to stop Maryville on the next possession and get a quick score so they would only be down 4.  Then with another 3 and out they would be in position to make a game winning drive.  10 Minutes is still pleanty of time to get 2 scores.  I wouldn't say it was giving up.  He was just hoping his Defense could hold and they could put 2 scoring drives together at the end of the game.

Yeah right.  Averett just better get ready for an 0-10 season.  We had one of those a few years back and believe me it sucks.  Maryville will want to put it on Averett this year after last year's game.  Payback's coming Averett, just get ready for it  :D

I definately think Ferrum can pull this one out.  They have only gotten better as the season went on.  With what they did against NCWC plus how tough they played Maryville, I believe they will pull off the upset.  This should be a great game without a doubt!

   I have not been shy as we all know about questioning Coach Barnes' play calling at times over the years but this call while I did not like it I can understand it. Kicking a field goal made it 21-10. If the defense would had been able to stop Maryville and been able to score a TD it would of had a chance to pull with in 3 points with a 2 point conversion. SU's kicker had been pretty good all season long so I guess Barnes was hoping for that. I would had liked to had seen SU try for a on side kick after the field goal. But would of, could of, should of's has been what SU fans have been dealing with for the past 3 years now.

It could be worse... you could be Averett and have 0 wins this year... but I understand how 3 years of losing would definately get to ya.  I know it would get to me.

    Congratulations to Raphael Amey who was named USA South Conference offensive Rookie of the Week. Amey had a second-best in school history 127 yards receiving on six catches plus two rushes for 18 yards and 56 yards in kickoff returns.

   Why SU does not pass more I will never understand. The Hornets were playing a team that has been terrible against the pass all season long. They did 48 rushing attempts for a avg. of 3.1 yards and was 9-18 for passing attempts with a avg. of 16.4  average per completion.

I didn't tail gate year before last when we came to Maryville, so not sure about this. Do you have a section for the visitors to park and be able to tail gate or do they just mix in and find a place where ever. I have seen a lot of talk about trees being cut down, changes made to the grounds but I only remember being in a regular parking space outside of the visitors locker room last time. So any help you can offer would be appreciated.

I think everyone has already given into that (0-10) being a reality. Most of us (parents) would just like to see them make a game out of it and not give it away by making silly mistakes. (and not get blown out). Right now injuries, people quiting, and bad attitudes, in addition to the inexperience has worn them down. The coaches are doing everything they can to find something that works but they are worn as well.

Agree, that's the inexperience part I mentioned. Did you see my question concerning tailgating?
