All Right then!!!! Party plans have started!!

I'm also discussing some things with people. Maybe the first tailgate of the year will also be the first remote radio pre-game sideline reporting. I might need a co-host for the tailgate party so I can do some radio stuff. We'll see what happens. Everything is preliminary right now.

QUOTE>>>NC Wesleyan exposed W&J. Playing Bethany and Waynesburg is a lot different than going head up in a conference with Mount, Cap, Northern and others.

Sirianni was 30 or 31 (35 at the start of this season with 4 years in as the HC there), he also coached at Wilkes and Ithaca for a year each, and W&J was already an established program in that conference.

W&J is now under Sirianni what they pretty much always have been post the two title game appearances in the early 90s...rack up a great record against questionable competition, maybe get a playoff win if they draw Christopher Newport, then bow out to someone legit. Thus far, he hasn't changed that, and in fact they just went ahead and lost to the 8th seed USA South team this year in the first round. I've seen first hand how mediocre South Region football is and to me that's an unthinkable loss if you're a real #1 seed, which of course W&J never is. UNQUOTE>>>

Wow, there's a kick in the head for the South Region. I hope the right folks can read the quote above and figure out how to improve the level of play in the South Region

BTEXPRESS

Where did that quote come from?????

Ryan Tipps

It's a quote from a poster on the OAC board. The context of his argument was pointing to how much harder it is to succeed in a coaching job at Marietta (an OAC team) than it is in an easier conference, like the one W&J is in.

My perspective is that the South Region sent a rep to the big game in three of the five years prior to this unprescedented and amazing stretch of UWW/MUC Stagg Bowls. That's a pretty good record, in an era that still saw Mount as a dominant force and St. John's as a key contender.

The South should be proud of its conferences, teams and the way they perform in out-of-region games. Sometimes top-to-bottom shakeups can occur. Shocker, I know. I like that the South is more evenly balanced than other places such as the North Region are.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Hey Tipps,

Go tell that OAC guy:

Up your nose with a rubber hose!!

it's the best i can do...i'll blame it on my dinner...more rice krispy treats   :D

Eh-You

Just heard that an Averett assistant was leaving to be an assistant at Methodist. Was curious if anyone has examples of losing a coach to another staff in conference. Also wonder how big of an advantage you think that gives Methodist over Averett.
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)

It happens in the ASC occasionally.  Younger coaches get a chance for more responsibility.

Frequently there may be other family opportunities.

Heard the same rumor a couple of weeks ago. Apparently this coach played for Dunlevy and has been coaching with him since 2002. Not sure why the seperation. There were no signs of discontent (that anyone knew about). I am sure he could give away lots of information on Averett's schemes. But hey, most of the teams know what you run from looking at all the film. Unless you put in something new the week before game time, the opponents already know you like the back of their hand. The one disadvantage is he knows the personal and thier weakness as well as strenghts.
P.S. Averett didn't have any strenghts last year, so we will all see first hand what they have this year. ;) :D

Any of the Methodist faithful hearing these rumors or know anything about this.

My son graduates this year and will be playing football for Coach Mitchell and  the Greensboro Pride. It's great to have a forum like this. Any other "new dads" out there?

PrideDad,

Welcome and congrats to your son on playing for Greensboro. You your family and your son will experience the thrill of a life time in the DIII arena. I am not new, but still remember the excitment I experienced when my son learned he would be playing at Averett. It has only gotten better.

These boards are great and you will meet some great folks who post on here. Not only from the USA South Region but from all the conferences. I like every other father dreamed of my son playing big time college football but realized that the big schools would not be for my son. He would get lost and struggle with his studies. After we learned that all the DI schools in the state were full to the rim with kickers, the DII and DIII schools were knocking at the door and on the phone every night. He choose Averett because that was where he had the best chance to start his freshman year. The coach at Averett told him, his studies and diploma came first - football second. Those words are still true and I applaud the coaches there for making sure these guys are getting the grades and graduating. He also is a stickler for discipline. I like that. I am extremely satisfied with his studies (best grades since 5th grade - all A's & B's) and he has been blessed that he is able to say, he played NCAA College Football.

Welcome aboard and good luck to your son and his football career. My wife and I have traveled to Greensboro 4 times now (2 games with Guilford and 2 with Greensboro) and found the town to be beautiful as well and the campus' of both colleges. The people are friendly and I have met some wonderful folks and established some new friends for life. That whole surrounding area of Carolina is beautiful.

Good luck

KickerDad, Very well said. My son is also waiting to make his final college decision in a well weeks to play Football at the Division III level. We are waiting on the Financial Aid/ Merit Scholarship packages before deciding. I started to follow this site this summer and have enjoyed reading it almost every day. I am still amazed on how these Division III schools have invested so much $$$$ into upgrading stadiums, weightrooms, fitness centers etc. It is a great time to be a Division III Football player. I was also surprised at the whole recruiting process. My son knew he would never run out of the tunnel at Notre Dame but always had a dream of playing College Football. It was something I never had the opportunity to do. The Coaches at the Division III level really have a tough tome recruiting because it is not like they have Full athletic scholarships to offer. But they do a great job of calling, sending notes, e mails etc to make these kids feel important. He will have a tough time deciding which school to pick and an even tougher tome telling the other coaches he is not going to their school.

PrideDad,

i haven't heard anything for certain, but i did hear that the monarchs were possibly adding a coach...maybe he's the guy

if he is the guy, i doubt he was hired for his ability to give averett's secrets, though...anybody the monarchs hire will be a good coach who is also a good recruiter

PrideDad - welcome aboard and feel free to ignore any derogatory comments i might make about  the gc football team...i do hope your son has an outstanding career and enjoys the experience of going 0-4 against the monarchs :) - seriously, though, it sounds like he went through a pretty exhaustive search for the school that is the "right fit" and he's found a good school with a coach who seems to have his priorities in order...enjoy the experience!

Who stole our Narch? Was that a couple of sentences of nice things being said to a GC fan?

Wow!  :D :D
