HA - I just need some humor. I've waited all off season for a good football game and now I have to wait 3 more weeks before I see some CNU football. The campus has a noon mandatory evacuation tomorrow. Everyone's gotta leave. I think it's just gonna be a rain event. But what do I know other than watching the weather channel. We're under a TS warning now. The main thing is loss of power. It wold be a pain to have 3500 kids in dorms with no power.

Shame the game is off....But 4 inches of rain might close some of those tunnels in that area won't it? Losing this game only gives Wesley 5 in region games again. Maybe we can round up a game for them like last year.. Montclair St. was a late signing.

I've been here most of my life and the only time I've seen a tunnel close due to rain was when a state employee didn't close the flood gates in time and the Mid-Town tunnel in Norfolk was totally submerged. You can imagine the electrical problems that caused. The tunnel was flooded and out of service for some time. VDOT took a well deserved bashing for that.

Yeah, it really stinks there is no footall this weekend in Newport News.

well, i am with you cnu85. this sucks but you cant mess with mother nature. i, like you have been waiting for jason's last season to get started and am really disappointed that the game is canceled. lucky for me, i only have to wait 7 days for what should be a good game with delval. good luck this year.

Narch, sorry it took so long to get back with ya (preparing for hurricane deployments has kept me busy this week). Next week should be good for me (depending on hannah and ike). At least I didn't get another government sponsored trip to New Orleans this year like I did 3 years ago. Give me a shout when you get in the area, 22 north/jerry allens/lagerheads sounds good.

I think we may have been in Newport News that weekend when that happened. My aunt lived on Woodroof rd right up the street from CNU and we made it down there 5 straight years for games at NNA and in N.C

Narch - what's the mindset behind that? Are they thinking the storm will have passed by then? What about power failure?

When the shipyard shuts down you know things are a little tense. For Isabel they shut down 2-3 days ahead.

i think you're spot on...who knows what will happen from a power standpoint...the really high winds are expected east of I-95...I'm just stoked the game is being played

Talk about power failures ... Davie County (NC) HS was supposed to play a key football game at Thomasville (NC) HS tonight, but when the ground crew went to turn on the lights, they discoved a thief had broken into the box and stolen all the copper wires in the lighting system. They say it'll be rewired in time for a Monday night start, but this is a sign of the economic (and moral) times. Think of all the time, money and gasoline spent by the teams and fans to travel and prepare.

Maybe all stadium crews better check the lights, clocks and scoreboards before game time!

Hey - looks like CNU admin made a good decision. The most recent weather track puts the exact center of Hanna riht over Newport News at about the time kickoff was to take place!

I've got a few books loaded in my digital reader...time to stay in and read. I'll pop open a beer at noon. I might even text Llamaguy and see how wet it is at Averett.

Narch - I'm jealous. I don't get to watch football tomorrow. I don't get to see CNU play until 10/27. I was thinking about going to Salisbury on the 20th - but I will be in Chicago and Green Bay that weekend. OH - and talk about missing football. I have to go to Green Bay on the day they play the Cowboys in a night game and I didn't know it until after my business plans were made.....so i get into GB right at game time. I'll be the only guy in the streets!!
