Anybody out there?

Old Blackbird,

A few folks are on the board on game day, but right now it is as dry as powder bone. We have no pick-ems to get embarrased about, fuss and complain; no interest from anyone about any of the USA teams. Personally I have paid more attention to the ODAC and Political Board more than this one. Don't understand, because this board use to be on fire with posters.

I am excited about Averett's win over Guilford but trying not to say a lot in fear that it will jinx them. Not sure if Averett is that much better than last year or Guilford came in thinking they could just show up and Averett would roll over and die. I will say this, Guilford threw a lot of passes as usual but Averett was able to put pressure on the QB when needed and prevent the big play as well as 3rd down conversions. Guilford looked at one time like they could run but they are too predictable with the pass.

Kickerdad, there used to be a lot of smack talking (all in good fun of course) back in forth amongst the fans of different school it has pretty much ceased due to reasons known to some of us but I would love to see it return!!!

Admiral Papi,

Back in your day you had an arm....but you were also as slow as a slug on welfare.

Hows that?

Go Pride...3-1???To much to ask???

ProudFightingScot

"Greensboro College is 2-1 and looking much improved from years past. Maybe GC can beat Maryville this week. Defense is playing lights out. Offense is improving. Here's hoping for a little payback this week. All Pride fans who were at the game last year know what i am talking about. Come early and support the PRIDE"

Southernstyle, what was the problem with last year's game except for the Pride losing last season????

AdmiralPapi,

Smack talk is good and expected as long as it is good clean fun. There are those that can dish it out but can't take it. The come back moshergc9 had for you was great and I am sure you laughed as I did. There must have been a real problem for every one becoming tight lipped.

Question for you - Did you QB at Methodist?

After the GC-Maryville game last year the players had to walk through a bunch of drunks who failed to enter the game. Lot of mouthing and name calling went on. GC parents took exception to this and a fight almost broke out. Rent-A-Cop went crazy and threatened to lock some GC parents up.

I may be wrong and if so, feel free to correct me, but shouldn't the host school be responsible for providing proper security for both teams going to and from the field to locker room and locker room to buses? Also, as a parent I can understand GC parents going to the rescue, but a few drunks against a whole team of football players????? It would serve them right to get their behinds kicked and have to go have a few cleats pulled from their rectums or a face mask permently embedded on their forehead.

You are right, southernstyle.  I have not heard about this problem, but there is no place for this kind of behavior and I apologize for our fans.  Those alums need to show some class and hope our officials have done something to not let it happen again.  That group of alums use to be on the other side of the stadium, but were moved by the school to outside the gate between the stadium and lockerroom.  I hope the new AD at Maryville does a better job with that group this year.

Any team that plays Maryville @ Maryville, should be used to the drunken fans that don't pay to get in.  They are tailgating well before the game starts and welcome the away team with a barrage of verbal abuse. To some that just shows that they have loyal fans and I agree with that 100%, BUT the use of the N word aimed towards black players crosses the line in my opinion and that's why I'd have to say that they are, by far, the worst fans in the conference.  I'm sure not all Maryville fans are racist, but the few fans I encountered in my playing career ruined my opinion of the Maryville fanbase.  I have no doubt in my mind that the GC parents were in the right by defending their kids against those idiots.

Let's go Captains, bounce back to beat Wilkes this week.

Mosh, give me some credit...I was faster than a slug...and you hit like a girl  ;)

Kickerdad, in a previous life I used to QB for Methodist.

CNUalum, taunting and yelling at the players as they enter the field - I agree with your claim.  Using the N -word, I seriously doubt it because there are both white and black alums in that group.   Having a serious discussion is one thing, but calling Maryville fans racists is over the line and addresses your lack of character as well.

PS - That alumni group did not move to that location (outside the end zone between the stadium and fieldhouse) until last season - the 2007 season.  In 2007, Maryville played CNU at CNU.  In 2006, that alumni group was at the opposite end zone of the stadium when CNU visited Maryville.  The players could not possibly walk by those alums as they entered and left the stadium.   When you start making up things - you need to check out the facts first.....

Admiral Papi,

If rocket and you came in the same year who is the starter?

Roll Pride
Beat em Down

Is anybody from maryville voting obama??

CNUALUM9

My senior year('06) we DID have to walk past the group that you are mentioning.  They were in the far end zone away from the locker room, the side of the field that away teams warm up.  When we entered the field, we walked down our sideline to beyond the endzone and right into the path of the alums(although they were on the other side of the fence).  So maybe you need to check your facts because we did in fact walk past these alums and they did IN FACT use the N-word more than once.  I am white, but if it bothered me that much then imagine how it felt to character guys such as Rob Rodriguez, George Jones, or Roland Hilliard.  You can say what you want about my character and that doesn't bother me, but why would I make up such a lie?  How many brownie points would I get for making up such a lie?  As soon as Captains63 reads this post I am 100% positive he will verify my story. He too was a white player on the '06 squad.  You don't have to believe it, that just shows your character, but the truth is, from that alumni group, the N word was being tossed around frequently.  Like I said, I don't believe it is the case with all Maryville fans, but a group of drunken fans(in the endzone behind the fence away from the lockerroom) were using profanities that were beyond disrespectful.

As for if anybody from maryville voting obama...I can guarantee you the fans I am talking about aren't, but my character doens't mean anything.  I only believe in standing up for what I believe in and believing that everybody is created equal.  It's 2008(2006 at the time), but the use of such an ignorant word is disgraceful.  What a bad characteristic to have, huh?

As for the name-calling that happened with GC...was any of it the N word?  Because hopefully proudfightingscot will realize I'm not lying if more than 1 school claims to have experienced the same name calling.

crazylegs33

CNU9, good to see you still have that never back down spirit. I can verify your story, I was there that day as well. Its a shame some people just don't get it.

Let's Go CNU!!!
