We need to catch up in those totals.  Thats why the 45-0 score is going to be awesome for us!

ProudfightingScot, (hereinafter referred to as some shorter version of that name). Narch and Mosh like to blame losing on one variable. (i.e. private school,a single penalty etc.) It's how they do it in dream world.
untrue...i've repeatedly blamed the monarchs record this season on their inability to run the ball and their inability to stop the run...that's two reasons...i'm seriously starting to question the math department at cnu :)

Y'all are gonna take that BYE team behind the woodshed and give them a beat down aren't ya Old Blackbird  ;D :D ;D :D

Nah.... the boys are young. They will learn that to win, you have to play consistant. You guys played a good game. Good luck this week.

It all goes in cycles anyways...  Yall are down a little this year and we are up.  Next year who knows...

The over and under in the CNU/GC game might be 45 or so, but I just don't see Greensboro pulling it out on the road in CNU's first home game of the season.  Sorry Pride, but I have to say Captains by something like 35-10.  If I'm wrong, I'll take my lumps.

Guilford does not have a game this week, so I'll be closely watching the ODAC and USAS scores.  It'll be interesting to see who wins AU/MU as well as MC/FC!  HSC appears to be the solid frontrunner for the ODAC while the USAS seems to be up for grabs ... it'll be more clear on Sunday!

Any team could have won really.  Really messy field conditions from what the video showed...

Go Scots 1-0 in the conference!!!!

PFS (formerly known as ProudfightingScot)

Like you said, "any team could have won" in the MU/GC game and MU got the call in the endzone. No excuses, GC should not have left it in the hands of the ref - that always comes back to bite us - especially at home!! No one to blame but ourselves.

Here are my humble picks:

Averett 17-14 over Methodist = Monarchs seem to be struggling - hopefully they'll still be struggling when they play the PRIDE

Maryville 10-0 over Ferrum = The Scots do have a very good defense

GC 10-9 over CNU - Sorry, just can't bring myself to pick over my son . . . . .  ;)  and I believe in miracles!  8)

I think the ride home from Newport News is ALWAYS the longest of the year . . . . .  :'(

newbie,
I liked your PFS abbreviation, I even got a kick out of the Elroy Hirsch. I could even let you slide with the pick against CNU. But bringing my Buccaneers into the mix? Thats too much man. too much.   :D Who told you I was a bucs fan? I bet it was narch. He knows everything.

I dont know if anyone on here knows the answer to this but i have been wondering for quite some time now.  Why dont they do pre season all conference awards? I know division 1 schools do and i was wondering why d3 schools dont.

It would be very difficult to conduct a Pre-Season All USAS due to the harsh turnover rate year by year. Some kids leave for financial reasons or personal reasons or to transfer out such as the talented CNU WR from last season who last I heard left for ODU. Unless the vote was conducted after the first week of Pre-Season Camp. I definitely agree and think it would be a good suggestion and possible thought for the future.

And at that point, you'd probably be looking at a third party to make the picks because my guess is that there's not a coach out there who would want to be spending his time voting to highlight other teams' athletes when he should be on the field working with his own.

If something like this would ever take place, maybe SIDs would fill the void? A media panel? Narch, CNU85 and a handful of darts?

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

As far as preseason awards go.  You never really know what you have coming back year to year in DIII to do that.  It would be nice, but just not really realistic.

An offensive and defensive player of the year would be easy to pick since the top players usually return. I know that the America Southwest picks preseason players of the year.

Unfortuntely, I don't even think this is even a safe thing to say. If you would've asked me in July, I very likely would have chosen CNU's Jesse Bradshaw as the offensive player of the year. But as we all know, despite being a great player, he didn't come back to the school. D-III just has so many variables, from money and desire to academics and injury.

Another example is last year for Kickoff 2007 in the ODAC, I had picked H-SC's then-quarterback to the be the breakout player of the year for the conference. That was just days before Week 1. Then things went down just before the start of the season, and that player didn't play. Sure, a H-SC quarterback was the bearkout player of the year, just not to the QB that I picked  :) :-\
