After yesterdays results, the race for the title could be very interesting. Congrats to CNU for a big win!
CNU85, Your prediction was almost perfect, good job.
The only easy day was yesterday

I dont want to count any chickens prematurly, but I am curious about something....Lets say that the Conference title comes down to the last week with the Ferrum/CNU game. Could the loser get an at large bid?

I am guessing that CNU would, if they lost, have a better shot at the bid, than Ferrum would if they lost.  ?????

I am certainly not in the know like Tipps, Pat, Keith, and a few other D3 intellectuals but I would say most likely the USA South champ is the only one that will get in regardless of who wins.

Assuming both teams win out until this game, the loser would have a second loss.  I think it's a lock that no USAS team with two losses would get an at-large bid ... there are two many other good teams nationally and the USAS is not considered a "power" conference.  In my opinion, the league champ will get the AQ and everyone else will watch from home.   :-\

PS  Same is true in the ODAC.

Hasa nailed it. The strength of schedule for the USA South in general just isn't impressive enough to make the No. 2 team a real contender for a Pool C.

It would be a different story if Ferrum would've beaten E&H in Week 1. That would have given them (undefeated through nine weeks) a very reasonable shot at a Pool C if they'd wind up losing against CNU, but two blemishes is a tough thing to overcome -- and there are numerous good teams in recent years that have been left out of the dance because of a two-loss scenario.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

5226, according to D3football.com.

That's enrollment. Capacity per d3football.com and CNU media guide as Riki mentioned is 4200. I'm glad they added bleachers on Saturday. It was needed. It was good to see a crowd of 5,016. Fifth largest in CNU history. Weather was great. CNU played well in many aspects. Too many penalties for both teams. CNU found yet another RB. Legister is the real deal, and big! Gaines played well at QB. Imagine towards the end of the season with more games under his belt being able to have Long back on D!!!!!!!
Who knows?

I think the 2 QB system is working well. Long has a lot of poise and confidence. He doesn't get rattled.

Defense looked good again. In my meaningless opinion #49 Nate Williams is All-American material. He's in on almost every play and on special teams he is all over the place.

Speaking of All-Americans, I was able to tailgate with Rob Rodriguez. I've never had a chance to talk to him before. As good a player as he was, he's even a better person. Super nice guy, down to earth. Intelligent. I could tell right away those factors helped him on the field. He knew what was going on, often before it happened. It's  no wonder the Chiefs took a look at him even though he was out of football for a year.

Just some ramblings.....

Wow, some great pix!

Jesse Hutcheson is the real deal. The kid knows his stuff, he's only a junior at CNU and at age 21 he's made a pretty good name for himself, not with just sports photos but he's also done a lot of other photography as well.

Pat Coleman

We've used a couple of Jesse's photos on the site and I agree.

Congratulations to the Averett Cougars on their win this past Saturday against another fine team, Methodist University.

They reminded me of the 2006 squad  that shared the conference title with CNU. They were hitting on all cyclinders across the board. Hopefully this will carry over to NCWC this week. Everyone looked good.

For the Methodist guys, thanks for the hospitality, the food was good, weather was nice, seats were comfortable and your fans were great. We really enjoyed the trip. Felt a little uncomfortable sitting on the same side but there was no issues. Your folks were very nice. I was also impressed with your team doctor and training staff when 2 Averett players when down in the 4th quarter (at the same time) and one was knocked out for a short while. It happened on the Methodist side and your folks were there before the referee could blow the whistle, attending them. Your head coach is a first class act as well.

For the NCWC faithful -

National Weather Service's long range forecast is calling for temps in low 60's and 50% chance of rain in Rocky Mount on Saturday. Are your local forecasters there predicting the same thing? I see where your game location has changed from the Sports Complex to a local high school. What are the seating arrangments - bleachers on both sides, or what?

We love to tailgate and I can tolerate the cold but wind and rain make it a little unpleasant. Does this new place allow tailgating? We may be doing the early morning Cracker Barrel thing.

Kickerdad,  to answer your question about NCWC's temperary facilities, You will be able to tail gate and it does offer seating on both sides of the field. As far as the weather.... in the 60's with AM chance of showers. Should be good football weather....
