So week eight has arrived, and Ferrum will get a well deserved bye week. I hope they work on extra points! That was crazy. 3 blocked xp kicks.  I don't know what has to be done, but someone needs to figure it out quick.

Good game by the Hornets. They are a quality ball club also better than their record shows.

Good luck to all this week!
BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!

Congrats to CNU on a good win.  Your running attack overwhelmed our defense in the first half as you jumped to a 24-0 lead.  Got to be proud of our Fighting Scots on not giving up and making it a 7 point loss to the Captains.

I agree with crazylegs, why in the world are you trying to throw deep passes with less than 2 minutes left in the game and up by 14 unless your trying to run up the score.  Poor decisions by your staff almost cost CNU at the end.

Ogun is the most physical running back I have seen in years, however your fullback is very impressive opening up the holes for Ogun.

Very proud of Conner throwing for 339 yards against the Captians.  I think Idlette is the best receiver in the conference with 9 catches for 149 yards.

Finally, this was the largest crowd to watch a MC game with around 5,000 at the game.  Great atmosphere for a college football game and proud of the support of our fans....

ProudFightingScot....nice to meet you Friday night at the  baseball game. Please give your father my thanks again for the invite and my apologies for not making it by after the game Saturday.
I was very proud of the Fighting Scots for hanging in there yesterday. Down 24 to 0 in the Q1, they could have quit. I concur with you and crazylegs on CNU passing late in the game.  IMO, just plain poor play calling whether they were trying to make the margin of victory bigger or not. Run the ball and force the Scots to use their TO's. Even if you don't pick up a first down, MC still has to go the length of the field, score, recover an onside kick, and score again to tie or win the game. All with less than two minutes on the clock and no TO's left. Probability....slim and none!!
All in all, a great weekend fellowshipping with old friends and teammates. Several I hadn't seen in 20 years. Keep fighting the fight Scots and working hard to raise it to the next level.
And one more thing....the walk of the Scots is a great tradition and very emotional for me. For the current players, I think it puts a human face on what Legends Rock represents. Very cool. Go Scots!!

I'll get the pick 'ems started this week since I didn't do so well in my only attempt so far this year.

Methodist @ CNU... Captains playing their second home game of the season on the last Saturday of October come away with a big win.  Methodist is giving up 306.3 yds/game on the ground in conference games won't be able to stop the conference's leading rusher, Tunde Ogun(163.7 yds/game).

Greensboro @ Averett...Listening to kickerdad earlier in the season, I wasn't sure Averett could beat a rec team.  We will find out this weekend as they play the closest thing to a rec team in Greensboro. (Just a joke Pride...no need to get your panties in a bunch).  Averett wins in a close game.

NCWC @ Shenandoah...Upset Special of the Week!!! Shenandoah comes in with a 1-2 record in the conference, BUT their lone losses come against the conference's 2 undefeated teams.  Both games were close games (Ferrum 14-12 & CNU 17-7).   NC Wesleyan gets caught looking ahead and fall at SU.

2 is the loneliest number that you ever knew...or is it one? :)

i like the stones to pick su over ncwc, but i don't think it will happen

and predicting that tunde ogun is licking his chops right now is understatement...i hope the monarchs have something up their sleeves for him

According to today's Greensboro News and Record, Greensboro College has reached an agreement with a coalition of residents in the downtown Warnersville neighborhood to develop a 30-acre tract as a sports complex.  The residents were worried about the presence of a football stadium and the demolition of an historic school.  Evidently, in addition to offering financial aid scholarships to Warnersville students, the college will preserve the school as a lyceum (community center/historical museum) while putting in a soccer field, a baseball field, a softball field and tennis courts.  The article went on the say GC would renovate existing Pride Field on campus (in front of Hanes Gym) in order to finally have a football stadium on campus.

Since I first visited Greensboro College in 1999 they have always said they were going to build this or or that (and they love blueprints).  Out of the few projects they have made blueprints of I have seen zero new buildings.

I hope this isn't a ten yr PR stunt.  If they say they are going to do it and recruit kids with it then I hope those kids get to play on that field.

Mosh...GC recruited me in hs with the promise of a new stadium to play in and that was a long time ago.

Admiral,

I think this one is really going to happen but it prob will take ten years.  Even though the Pres played FB at Wake I think he is pretty removed from really caring what happens to the sports programs.  I take that back he prob cares but its not the priority.

GC could really change things with some facilities though..The location is ideal for college kids.
