Congrats to the Fighting Scots on beating Shenandoah 23-20.  A win next Saturday against Averettt will give them their 5th conference win and their most since joining USA-South.....

Game got to be alot closer with 2 late TD's in the last 6 minutes of the game for the Hornets....  MC's secondary had too many breakdowns against a team that doesn't throw the ball that well....  Solid day by the Scots offensive line and Hightower is 80 yards away from setting the school's rushing record....  LB Chewning and DT Harris were very impressive...

I think Shenandoah is 1 year away from being a very good football team.  Their defense in not very big, but can run and fly to the football.  Joe Jacoby's coaching on their offensive line is very evident.  Their roster lists only 6 seniors on the team.  If they can find a more efficient QB, combine their passing with a strong running game and an aggressive defense, they will be much better in 2009.

Hope to make the trip with a couple of my friends to Danville, VA to cheer on the Fighting Scots........

85, if your numbers for DeRon Brown were right, we should see Tunde on top of Division 3 for Rushing yards per game. He netted 177 in his final game of the season.

That puts Tunde #2 in yards per game in ALL of college football behind only Jerry Seymour of Glenville State (D-2).

I'm nervous about the #23 ranking. Although a W is a W, I am nervous about CNU's recent play. I think we are over rated and I hope our guys don't let this go to their heads. Our secondary needs a lot of work and we need to find some sort of passing game. CNU needs to start putting teams away. These last 2 weekends were too close for comfort. I hope Coach Kelchner is able to work out some of these problems this week. Tunde is a beast but he can't carry us against top ranked teams.

I can't wait for this weekend. Go Captains!!!!!

Exactly. Can't add anything to that post. It's 100% spot on.

Is it Saturday yet? What a great weekend for football. My High School wins in the playoffs. CNU wins and is ranked. My grad school alma mater wins and is #14 in the D1 FCS poll and finally the Vikings beat the Packers - and it was on local TV! What a weekend for football!!

But my fantasy team was sucking wind. Dropped 2 places to 6th in the year to date standings. That's a few hundred bucks!

85,

Don't tell me you're a Vikings fan! Just when I thought I we saw eye to eye on everything. My roommate is a HUGE Vikings fan so I kinda support em. But all bets are off come sunday. My Buccaneers are going to show AP what a real defense looks like!

Goooooo CNU!!

Goooooo BUCS!

Yeah, he'll only gain 175 yds. Have you noticed the similarities between AP and TO (Tunde Ogun)? Ogun is the d3 version of AP.

I've gone to two Vikings v Bucs games in Tampa......Bucs won them both. I'm never going back there to watch a game. Next year I'm thinking about making the pilgrimage to Minneapolis to catch a game.

Skol Vikings!

With only one game remaining in regular season, my Bishops will not make the playoffs. But, the players, staff, and fans should be very proud of the progress this team has made in its tenure in football. I was a little concerned when Ginn left the program, but I like the way Henninger coaches and the staff he has put together. I watched these kids in practice before the season and it was obvious the winning spirit still exists and based on this years performance I think demonstrates that the Bishops will be a team to reckon with hopefully for a long time. Regardless of the outcome of the final game, they have performed well and Bo Jordan has done an exceptional job leading the team on the field. It is obvious CNU has the track to go forth in the playoffs. I wish them well and I hope they represent the conference with not only victories but class, becaues it is a class program. So after this week, I will say with pride, Go Captains!!!

The lead story of my column this week is a Q&A with Henninger. It should be posted sometime today, just fyi.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Nice interview, Ryan. I did an interview before the season with him about DIII football, infortunanely the paper decided to run something on DI instead. He is a heckava nice guy. I think the program is comming along fine, we need to just get the interest in the Bishops a little stronger in the area. It will get there, but the work continues!

Thanks Blackbird! I really liked talking to him. This is a weird, short week for me, otherwise I probably would've liked to talk to him even more and flesh out more details. Maybe next season  ;)

Hey, it was full disclosure when I said yesterday or the day before on the message board that they weren't going to be in there  ;)  Nah, I don't do things to spite people. You know me, and that ain't my style.

Nonetheless, ways CNU85 can get back at me:
-- Falsely text me updates to Saturday's game saying that Ferrum keeps scoring and rolling up the yards, only for me to find out that the Panthers were really on the losing end of a 52-7 rout.
-- Invite me to tailgate with you at the CNU/Salisbury game next year, only to feed me tofu burgers and Tang.
-- Root for DePauw this weekend  >:(

;D ;D

I'm hitting the road early tomorrow morning for Indiana. Seriously, though I hope Ferrum wins, good luck and health to both teams. The conference's playoff rep(-resentative and -utation) will hing on it!
