What a great season in the USA South. For the first time since I have been following the league, it seemed as is there was more parity than ever before. Congrats to CNU for winning the conference, and good luck in the playoffs. It seems that there will be several teams that have the chance to really be scary good next season if the have great off- seasons and can fill holes by recruiting. I have said it before and will say it again, I really believe that CNU has raised the bar for everyone else, and that the road to being the conference champ runs through CNU. With that being said, I think that there are about three or four different teams that could finish atop the conference next season. Lets all rally behind CNU during the playoffs, if they have a strong showing it justs gives the whole conference more national credibility.

Thanks Highlander!! It really has been a fun year! And the conference is getting better as a whole. Look at some of the CNU wins....not by much.

wesleydad

cnu85, i hope the d3 guys are wrong and we get to finally play the first week game.  i think that wesley will stay in the south and get cnu in dover.  read your dilemma with the anniversary weekend, hope you can make it to dover if it works out that way.  good luck in the playoffs, unless it is against wesley. :D

85,  You were really close with your guess. The years I played are listed on my signature at the bottom of every one of my posts. 02,03,04 and 06. And yeah my TD was against Chowan but it was in NC at Chowan. I travelled because of my involvement with special teams.

Here is a nice trivia nugget for you. There were 14 guys who started the CNU program and stayed for the entire 4 years, winning 4 championships. We affectionately refer to them as the 14. Only one other player in CNU history has won 4 championships in 4 years of play. Thats me. Kinda neat.

3 hours 'til we find out out destiny!!!
'02, '03, '04, '06...    4 years, 4 championships...

CNU85

Looks like we're going to W&J. Can we pick up where the last game left off....with momentum on the Captains side....only have 60 minutes on the clock?

Swish3

Our secondary will need to have their best game of the season....let's see if CNU can get that W&J monkey off their back!

GO CAPS!

Rikki_Tikki_Tavi

Fourth time in seven years CNU and W&J have met in the playoffs, third time they have met in the first round and of course the third time W&J has hosted. 85 just come the basketball game!

I think if W&J is able to hold Tunde Ogun to under 300 yards, the Presidents may have a chance

First thing I want to say is congratulations to all the seniors at Averett University for all you have done the past 4 years. You started out with a winning season as freshman, the 2nd year you helped bring the first conference championship to the school (regardless of the fact that you shared that crown with CNU), last year you went winless but you hung in there and you gave the guys returning next year something to build on by going 5 and 5 this year. If my memory is correct you were only picked to win at least 2 games this year if that many but you came together and put on a great show the second half of the season. Hell you gave CNU a scare for a few minutes and kept the score very low and close. Great job guys, now lets get those diplomas and leave in May with the diploma in one hand and the championship ring on the other.

Kicker13, not sure if you read this but you know I love you and I am very proud of you for all you accomplished the past four years. Now graduate and get a job because the bank has run dry!!! ;)

Congratulations to all seniors at all the schools for giving us old farts something to talk about during the week and making us think we were still young and able to play.

I want to wish CNU all the best beginning with this weekend against W&J. You have been there before and you know what to expect. Now go out and do it and make everyone proud of the USA-South.

Finally, to everyone I have had the pleasure and honor of chatting with and meeting over the past 4 years on this board and others, as well as in person as we have traveled to some great places, "Thanks For The Memories" Some of you assured me when I first got on here 4 years ago that this was going to be a life time experience and you were right. I wish all of you well in the future. I will continue to read and follow and if the notion stricks me, I may jump in and give you an old guys opinion. God Bless all of you and THANKS.

That includes Pat and Keith.

Thanks -- glad you have enjoyed the past four years. Definitely do not be a stranger -- there are plenty of posters here who are now parents of former players, and they still have good things to contribute.

Come to the Stagg Bowl, too, if you don't already plan to.

Kickerdad,

I've enjoyed your posts over the years. I also enjoyed our brief meeting in the rain before the game. Thanks for your kind words about my son. Good luck to your son as he enjoys his last few months of college age fun and soon enters AdultLand and all the associated stress.

ProudFightingScot

Congrats Kickerdad to you and your son.  Averett played well against my Fighting Scots on Saturday and made the plays in the second half to win the game....  Averett was not expected to do much this season and did a great job in the second half of the season to end up 5-5.

I know Maryville is disappointed and had high expectations for this season.  However, this team and this group of seniors played hard throughout the year and made all Fighting Scots fans proud of these young men.

This has become a very balanced league right now with not much separation between the higher and lower teams in the conference.

Congratulations to CNU and hope they have a great run in the playoffs starting with a big win against W&J on Saturday.....

Pat's comment about the Stagg bowl got me thinking...who would be in for a USA South tailgate party at the Stagg.  Most of us have never met but have known each other for years through post patterns...would it be possible for some of us to get together and tailgate before the Stagg Bowl?

Kicker13...I'm sure you know it already but you are lucky to have a dad who is as involved with your football career as your dad is!

Kickerdad...please don't be a stranger!!!

Come on down! We have been doing this for the past 4 years. They usually take a group shot of the different "post pattern" personalities at Stone Station at the Stagg each year. Last year I believe we had about 15 schools represented. This BC alum even wore a CNU skully supplied by CNU85 last year. Yikes, that would have never happened in 2002-2004.  :D :D :D

CNUALUM9 - You looked pretty hung over Sunday morning when I passed you on the interstate. Did a little celebrating Saturday night?
