Calling GS..................Where are you?

We're still looking for confirmation of Bruce Durham's status.
Did he even accompany the team to CA?
Illness/Injury? Ineligible?

Well - I'm certainly not GS (I'm better looking, if you discount my thousand chins) - but son Tim and I will be making the pilgrimage to NPU tomorrow afternoon in quest of the Vikings game with Knox - and will seek an answer to your question.

Thanks, Dennis.
I'm just so used to seeing GS on here, his absence sticks out.
Just looking for confirmation. Somethings up for sure.

I'll save you the suspense, he is no longer on the team.

Greek Tragedy

Greg Sager is no longer on the (D3hoops.com) team??  ::) ;D :D ;)

Anyway, yeah, where is that guy?  Hope he's ok.

Since the conference season starts next week, it is time to think about our predictions for the 2008 season. The CCIW with the exception of Elmhurst and possibly the Delpless Augie Vikings seems to be pretty competitive this year, although a little down nationally. I'll make my picks over the weekend, as the 9th is a big day for Augie coming off a long break since the home loss to UWSP.

It appears the same is true with Jorge Gonzalez.  He is no longer listed on the team's roster.

Wow, such concern over his whereabouts will no doubt touch Greg's heart.

Truth is, Greg and I work (outsourced) for a really large corporate bank.  In lieu of bonuses, they like to kill all our access acounts at the end of the year.  Thus, Greg has had no internet access (insert random rant agaist too big corporate America here) over the past week.  We are hoping (tough to get those log ins reinstated without a log in) to be back on line next week...

Bruce Durham seems to have dropped off the North Park radar screen.

For his sake, I hope its not true, but knowing Mr. Durham's academic history, I suspect he may have become academically ineligible. This makes sense in that the NPU term ended on 12/14. Bruce's name appears in the box score of a game played on 12/15. However, grades probably weren't posted that quickly after the end of the term just the previous day.

As I said, I hope I'm wrong on this supposition. Bruce is a fine ballplayer. However, he does have a history of not attending to his studies as religiously as is required, especially at the college level.

Thanks rob. It didn't appear so. Any idea as to the underlying cause for his departure?

So who started at PG for North Park in California, Dan Oziminski or Joe Capalbo?  The boxscores don't have starters indicated and I'm not familiar with which of these 2-guards is the better ball-handler and which was serving as the backup PG behind Durham.  Or is it Jason Gordon?  Didn't he play some PG last year?

On the season, Oziminski is 11-19 (.579) from 3 with 28 assists and 14 turnovers in 19 min/game.  Capalbo is 19-43 (.442) with 9 assists and 9 turnovers in 19.5 min/game.  Durham was 8-22 (.364) with 20 assists and 22 turnovers in 25 min/game.

As long as the new PG can handle the ball OK, NPU should be OK since they're adding a very good 3-pt threat to the starting lineup.  I guess the question becomes depth.  Who is now the backup PG?

Having watched IWU play without a true point-guard last year, I'm aware of how tough this can be.  NPU couldn't have a worse opening league game as they continue to figure the new rotation out - Augustana and that nasty pressure D.

Looks like they started Oziminski, Gordon, Stevens, Williams, and Ventura in both games, with Capalbo coming off the bench. Capalbo, though, actually played more minutes in the two games than anyone but Nick Williams.

I think you'll see Oziminski as the starter, with Chris Brown backing him up.

I think that's a pretty safe bet, possibly with Tone, or Gordon, or Capalbo bringing the ball up in infrequent scenarios.

I'm hoping to make it to my first varsity game at the Crackerbox in years  -  not so much to see who's manning the point for the Vikes as to see Knox's round mound of rebound, John Baillie, 6'4", 290 lbs......

I attended both of the North Park games in CA. This guy started and did a fine job at the point. Sorry, I don't know names.

Andone - sorry, can't really get in to details about Jorge, he's a great kid though.
