Your post is odd.

Yes, it was - number 217.   ;D

The King

Yes, it would have been more odd if # 219; yet, less odd if either #s 211, 213, 215 ::)

In any case, it was an 'odd' post.

Actually probably still in the pre-season rather than the non-conference  :P

Gee, do Exhibition Games imply the players are not really players but exhibitionists?

I view the season (at least the part that really counts) as the conference season.  That's probably why I referred to it as the pre-season, maybe I should have said "pre-conference season".

Yes, but your "really counts" comment is fallacious as well, TBF. CCIW teams are playing plenty of important games right now: Midwest Region games. All eight CCIW teams are playing this weekend, and five of them are playing games that will count towards their regional records. Some of them (Illinois Wesleyan @ Wash U, Lawrence @ Carthage) have the potential to be pretty important on Selection Monday.

Are these five games as important as conference games? Of course not. But, seeing as how regional games are the only ones that figure into the selection committee's database, these five games are contests that, ipso facto, "really count".

Today's Pantagraph article on the IWU/Wash U game...

http://www.pantagraph.com/stories/121005/spo_20051210017.shtml

For any IWU fans heading to the 3:00pm game, the St. Louis IWU Alumni Chapter is hosting a lunch today from noon - 2:30pm @ Ruthie's Grill (at Forest Park golf course).  Chapter member John Lipic asked me to pass this on, and since John is a former CCIW M.O.P. (1994), I figured it was CCIW Chat eligible information.

IWU's last game at Wash U (when Dauksas & Co. were sophs) was a 88-75 Titan loss in the Lopata Classic title game.  The year before was one of the best IWU performances I've ever seen - the 2nd round playoff win over the then #2-ranked Bears.

Two pretty good schools and basketball programs squaring off today in St. Louis.

Here's the Wheaton/Clarke boxscore...

Looks like Tony Bollier had another good game for the Thunder.

We can always count on you, G-man, to set us straight with our miscues and give us an outstanding extensive analysis about every cotton pickin aspect about North Park and its doings.  That's why I like this forum the best.  ;D

Also, I'm in favor of campaigning to get you on the NCAA Selection Committee (I don't know how that could be done, but it would be cool).  If they read all 3000 of your posts, they would see that you know more about teams, especially in the Midwest, than all of the committee members combined.  I can see the headlines "D3hoops.com Posting Up Legend Receives Special Invitation to the NCAA Selection Committee "  That's got a helluva ring to it.  :D

Checked the Wheaton boxscore.......thanks Q.

Where is Johnnie Standard?  I hope for Wheaton's sake he's only sick or injured and didn't have the same vision as Raymond had.  He was playing well.

Hey Roop.........so what kind of mileage does your Hummer get, anyways?

I think Wheaton is going to have trouble with Franklin's Nick Kane in today's Championship game of the the Franklin Tourney.

I'm not sure why Standard didn't play last night, but I sure hope we'll see him today.  If we can manage the inside, keeping Kane under 10 pts, and have Tony drain his typical 20+, we may have a chance against a good team on their home court.

Hiker:

On the post-game show last night with Bill Harris, he said that Johnny Standard was injured in the Benedictine game and will be out for 3-6 weeks.

Wheaton lost to Franklin this afternoon in the championship game of the tourney in Indiana.

Sorry a bit late on this, but yes Martin does struggle vs IWU, except his freshman year...He only scored 35pts vs Iwu at Elmhurst his freshman year.  Wouldn't say that's struggling.  But he seems to struggle a bit more vs them.  I would look for Martin to have a big game this year as long as he let's it come to him.  But there's many more important games before that IWU game.

The Titans looked as good as I've seen them today in St. Louis.

IWU really dominated the boards against Wash U.  - 13 for Chris Jones coming off the bench.  Against Chicago, it was pretty even - 31-30 IWU.

Question for Q - What was the difference today?  You already said IWU played very well.  Are the Maroons stronger than the Bears or was it primarily a difference in IWU's play?
