Year-in and year-out, there does tend to be as much drama in this league as there is on, say, Desperate Housewives.  A CCIW primetime drama, or even a reality show, just might make it.  Episodes such as "The head rub in Rock Island" and "Bosko vs Grey" would certainly be huge during sweeps week.

I'm willing to be in the cast, but only if somehow I end up with Eva Longoria.

Dream on, Q!! ;)

I've never actually seen Desparate Houswives, and I've also never seen either Bosko Djurickovic or Grey Giovanine.  So it's only a wild guess on my part that the coaches are not quite as easy on the eyes as the Housewives, and I don't know how such a show would do during sweeps week.

[I have, however, seen Bob Quillman... ::)]

I'm not tuned into this thread at all. I've always thought of CCIW hoops as Masterpiece Theater;)

That's nice because certain other conference rooms are more on the lines of The Bickersons, Laurel and Hardy, and The Three Stooges -- of course, without their saving graces.  :-[

Greg, you're right and wrong at the same time!  It is Masterpiece Theater AND Desperate Housewives (not to mention Monty Python's Flying Circus, Animal Planet, and both ESPN and Comedy Central)!

We're the board that can have defenestration jokes and @#$%^&* (not to mention discussions of Hobbes and Calvin & Hobbes) all on the same day!  CCIW Chat: we're high-brow AND low-brow - choose your poison! ;) ;D

A basketball-related topic...

Just looking at Illinois College (IWU's next opponent) stuff for the first time.  How is it possible that IC beat St. Norbert by only one less point than did UW-Oshkosh?  What the heck is happening up at Oshkosh (the preseason #2)??

Here's something interesting...

The Illinois College women defeated the #1 ranked team in country tonight, Millikin...

http://www.d3hoops.com/school_info.php?school=Millikin&team=w

On Saturday the Illinois College men host the #1 ranked team in the country.

Wonder when the last time a school's men and women both faced a #1 team in such a short span?

Mr. Ypsi

Let's just hope that IC doesn't become the answer to the trivia question: when is the last time a school BEAT the #1 men's and women's d3 teams in a single week?!!

There SHOULD be little chance of that, but Millikin probably felt the same way!

It may have happened more recently, but in 2003 this feat happened on the same day at least 14 times.  The Wash U. men's and women's teams were each ranked #1 from the preseason through Week 11 (when the male Bears lost in OT to #8 Rochester and dropped to #2).  There were 14 days between Jan 9. (at Wisconsin Lutheran) and Feb. 23 (at Rochester) when the Wash U. teams played doubleheaders.

I wouldn't waste any time worrying about UW-Oshkosh. That team has a lot of talent; Ted Van Dellen's most likely still shaking things out there, and he still has five non-conference games left with which to do it before he enters the meat of the WIAC season in January. I have a pretty strong suspicion that the Titans are going to be in the thick of the WIAC race right to the end.

The team in America's Dairyland that I think should be the most alarmed with its slow start is Carthage. They're a team that's running out of chances to establish some footing before the conference season begins. Now that Brian Schlemm is back, les hommes rouge have no more excuses for underperforming. It's not just a question of falling short against good teams; they barely beat Beloit in OT on Wednesday, and that game was played in Kenosha. Carthage has games remaining at an undermanned Concordia (WI); in Kenosha against an always-tough and disciplined Gustavus Adolphus; and after the calendar turns they'll host Grinnell and the Arseneault circus in a game in which it'll be hard for them to get anything productive done in terms of working on Bosko's normal offensive and defensive sets. Not a lot of chances left to right the ship before they start their CCIW sked by hosting Illinois Wesleyan three weeks from this coming Saturday.

Mr. Ypsi,
I don't think that's an in-region loss because RMC-Springfield's not a D3 team.

That would be correct.  La Crosse could play in-town rival Viterbo and it wouldn't mean anything because Viterbo is NAIA as well.
