I had no problem with the foul call against Gant. Carwell needs to make a layup in that situation. The 5 seconds was really close. Panner was suffocating Johnson and there was nowhere to throw the ball. I don't know the rule. It was a tough call to make with the inbounder calling TO.
I "cheated" a little toward the end and listened to Titan Q, which was ahead of the streaming.  I knew a five second call was going to happen.  It appeared the first cutter was open, but they didn't throw it in.  However, I didn't count the time.

Usee, I compliment you for your honest evaluation of the end of the game (which is all I was able to watch).  Your synopsis agreed with what I witnessed.

Wow! Another big game at the end of the season between Augie and IWU; it seems to happen every year.  I hope that Augie can win on their home court and lock up the CCIW. I don't think it's going to be easy, the Titans have gotten so much stronger over the last few weeks.

UMHB has won the ASC and will host the ASC tournament, I'd love to see them paired up with Augie in the NCAA tournament at some point. I'm just not sure who I would root for.

McMurry had Travis Tennison, their all-conference post from 2005, back for a few games.  He neutralized UMHB post Ryan Burgart in the lane, and McMurry beat UMHB.

I think that UMHB does not match up very well with CCIW-style teams.

I don't think that ASC teams can play Midwest style basketball.  Miss College tries every year and gets humiliated!

An up-tempo McMurry (2000 or 2001) or Sul Ross (2004) plays the Nolan Richardson "40 minutes of H*ll" and goes deeper into the tournament.

IWU and Augie clinched CCIW tournament berths tonight. Hopefully, Augie will have their act together Wednesday night. IWU is certainly playing better than anyone else in the conference right now.

Wednesday will also probably let us know where the tourney will be.  If Augie wins, they host.  If IWU wins they still have to beat NPU in B'town or have Augie lose in Naperville, but they would certainly be the likely hosts.
If IWU wins couldn't they still lose to NP and host as long as Wheaton finishes third?

Here is the Pantagraph article on the IWU/Wheaton game...

I couldn't be any more proud of this group than I am.  They're certainly not the most talented team around, but they just play so hard and so well together as a team.  They're very easy to pull for.

Big win tonight for the Titans.

Q, I witnessed Mr. Crabtree's pre-school girls team launching some long range shots with success, this morning...how did Coach Crabtree do on his own in the alumni game?

I think that is right - I hadn't looked at tie-breakers yet.

With the excitement of the main event, I plumb forgot about the alumni game until seeing in the Pantagraph story that Keelan had 36 and IWU won 101-85(?).  Bob, any more details on the alumni game?

That's the CCIW!  Four weeks ago we had a night with the four games decided by six points (and one of those was OT - if you counted that as a tie, the total was four points).

In a game with a lot of great former players on both sides, Keelan Amelianovich was a man among boys out there in the alumni game.  Keelan led the way with 36, Adam Dauksas had 19, and Bryan Crabtree 15.

Wheaton got good games out of Nate Frank and Jon Nielson.  It was a lot of fun.

Bryan had a quiet first half, but hit a few big shots in the 2nd.  He can still play at age 33.

sounds like a couple exciting endings in the cciw tonight.  How did Carthage get the ball to Steve so deep for him to hit a 2 after a basket in two seconds?  You would think they would make it very difficult for him to catch the ball let alone in the front court.

Did I also see that there were only 100 people in attendance at North Central?

I was at Merner fieldhouse and Steve D's shot went thru with 2.3 seconds remaining.  I looked at the play-by-play and it's wrong for the last few possessions.  At least the timing is wrong.  NCC's final 3/4 court pass was not accurate and the last few seconds ticked off the clock.

The Carthage-North Central game was a great game.  It was also a weird game.  Their was a problem with the shot clock twice in the 2nd half.  Maybe it was operator error.  The officials stopped play both times and Carthage was on their way to an easy basket when the officials stopped play on the 2nd shot clock problem.  Bosko was not pleased.

The Cardinals had a double digit lead twice with under 8 minutes to go.  They still had a 9 point lead with around 4 minutes remaining.  The Redmen did a great job of double teaming the ball handler on their press.  NCC had 4 straight empty possessions.  Two were offensive fouls on Barringer.  Carthage got back into the game and made a clutch shot with the game on the line.  Great game by both teams.

I choose the Carthage-NCC game over the Elmhurst-NPU game tonight.  It was 30 minutes closer for me but the main reason was I wanted to see Steve D play.  He didn't disappoint me.  He had a slow start but finished with 28 points.  He is everything the CCIW posters had written about him.  He is great at drawing contact and getting to the free throw line.  He also hits the jump shot very well.  NCC played great defense on him but he still hit many shots with a hand in his face.  Especially the game winner.  Bosko did not call a timeout and trusted his players to get a basket on their final possession.  North Central controlled most of the 2nd half but Carthage came out of there with a win.
