I'm not really sure why, but I'm feeling kind of uneasy about that first round matchup with Aurora.  I just don't know if Augie has anyone to match up with Welton.  Also, Aurora is one of those teams that if their 3s are falling, it's just going to be one of those days, and there isn't a whole lot the defense can do about it.  I just think that the type of game Aurora plays coupled with the fact that Welton provides big matchup problems for the Vikings makes me feel, let's just say not incredibly confident.  Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to the QCA for the games this weekend.

If an Augie fan is willing to pay for gas, ticket and room, I'll come to Rock Island.  I saw Aurora twice last year and they lost both times.  I think Larry Welton is scared of me because he didn't show up for either game! lol...I saw Wisconsin Lutheran College, of all teams, upset the Mighty Aurora team in Milwaukee and then saw Aurora, as the "top seed" get crushed by Hope College in last year's regional in Aurora.  ;D

I can testify to OS's powers..so OS...STAY AWAY FROM THE QUAD CITY AREA!!! lol
and they didnt get crushed, they lost by 1 (although they were down 15 at half)

BTW, I knew I'd hear from you after I posted that! lol...all in good fun.  Though my Pointers are playing at St. Thomas, I'll take the 2 hour trip to Whitewater to see Wheaton, Lawrence, Whitewater and Loras play.

Tell Larry Welton he can show up now, I won't be there!  :P

WHEW!! I might make the trip down myself, dont know yet. Should be a game of contrasting styles, so if you arent there, one less thing to worry about!
Actually, since I played at Dubuque, can you root against Loras please?

Already done, I'm rooting for Whitewater (WIAC allegiance).

Does anyone know if there will be video available for the Wheaton-LU game?

petemcb

Their website shows that it will be on their radio station, WETN 88.1.  It also says they'll have live stats.  Nothing about video broadcast yet.

Pat Coleman

I have never known WETN to have road games televised.

UW-Whitewater has TV, however -- there are rights fees and red tape involved with the NCAA Tournament but they may do the games.

Since Augie had a season full of nail biters, in nearly all of which they eked out a narrow victory, there is no reason to be overconfident against Aurora. However, after last year's disappointing effort against Carroll, I think Augie will be focused. Of course, they need a healthy Dain Swetalla for the weekend, and I have not heard any updates on his wrist injury. Anyone no the scoop on Augie's injury report?

Pat, is that information that you would post on the site if you had it, or are we better to check Whitewater's site regularly?

Greek Tragedy

I've never seen a Whitewater game on TV via Whitewater's website...they have TVs out in the lobby and have the game on, but the only games I remember being on TV or internet were the ones when Fox Sports came in and did them.

They do have a live-stats link on their webpage.

If you go to the WIAC basketball page, on the right side they have live video, audio etc link...there is one for Whitewater but didn't see any games for Whitewater on the link from there.

Thanks Q.

So is it going to be 80 degrees tomorrow, or a snow day?

We dodged the snow today, Pete.  It was a nice 45 degree, bright and sunny day here.  Mizzou decided early this morning to cancel their home baseball game, scheduled for this afternoon, but it turned out to be extremely playable (no worse than Wrigley Field in April!).  120 miles away, the St. Louis airport got 9 inches of snow today.  Strange.

We'll do our best to collect all live audio, live video and live stats links and post them on our scoreboard page, including the box on the front. However, we hope SIDs will dp so primarily.

Since I first became obsessed with this board in 2000 when Wheaton got hosed out of a berth, I suppose it's somewhat appropriate for me to peek my head out now that Wheaton was on the fortunate end of the committee's benevolence.

WAY TO GO WHEATON!!! WOOOOO!!!!!

Ahem.

Also, considering Titan Q's recent announcement, I'll throw mine out there too (for the handful of people who remember me).  It's been quite the year for me.  I got married this past September (non-D3 girl...sorry), and on Sunday I'm leaving Topeka, Kansas for the mothership in Bristol, CT.  That's right...ESPN.  For better or worse, I'm joining the likes of Mark Simon in ESPN's research department.  As I mentioned in my cover letter, I'd like to think that spending so much time in Division III athletics helped me learn how to do research, so thanks to all of you who make following relatively obscure schools so enjoyable.  Maybe I can get back into it a little now that the closest D3 school isn't five hours away.

I hope all is well with everyone.  Know that I'm usually lurking, even though I scarcely post.  Pat, if you need a broadcaster for any games in the New England area (Amherst?), drop me a note.
