"Congratulations to Drake Diamond who has committed to continue his education and his basketball career at Wheaton College in Illinois."

So, the big guy Wheaton is getting from Virginia is 6-8/225 Drake Diamond from Centreville H.S.  As a senior he averaged 4.8 ppg and 2.6 rpg.  He was 38-76 (.500) from the field and 29-45 (.644) from the FT line.  He attempted just one 3-pointer.

Nice breakdown Q.  Will the future "Mrs. Titan Q" continue to let you spend this amount of time breaking down the CCIW?  if so, does she have a sister?

Just back from opening night of the Columbia Coed Competitive League (softball).  The "Future Mrs. Titan Q" goes 4-5 with the game-winning, base-clearing 3 RBI double in the bottom of the 7th.  Impressive stuff.

Made my first career start in CF tonight after a 14-year State Farm Competitive League career at 1B.  Didn't think I'd like it, but I gotta say I'm too old to be fielding ground ball screamers from lefties.  Bring on CF.

Anyone else notice TQ didn't put any of his personal stats up.

Looks like we know who wears the pants at TQ's house!   :o   :)

Very observant, sac.

Hey, the little lady and I combined for 5 RBI last night...that's how I look at it.

That reminds me of a great Will Perdue quote in the locker room after a game where Jordan went off for 63 points:  "You gotta figure anytime Michael and I combine for 65, we have a good chance at a win."

Must be nice to have weather conducive to playing softball in April down there in Quillmanistan. The Chicago Covenant Softball League isn't looking at taking the field before the beginning of June -- and we're still working around the fact that the diamonds at Winnemac Park are being resodded after a miserable Chicago winter that seems as though it started last October and ended last week.

Of course, as the player/manager of Ravenswood Covenant Church, the two-time defending league champions (the "player" half of that designation basically means a token two or three pinch-hit ABs per season at this point -- gotta let the young bucks play), yours truly will be enforcing a grueling spring training regimen for his team over the next month, even if it means that they'll be shagging flies and fielding grounders in the mud. When you're the team with the bullseye on your back, you've gotta work that much harder to stay ahead of the competition. As I like to tell my players, "This is not a potluck social here, people! You are playing this game to win!" ;) :D

Just glad I moved to a place that isn't so earthquake-prone.

Don't count your chickens before they've hatched, Bob.

Oh, as a former property & casualty underwriter, I know all about the New Madrid Fault!

I didn't feel the original EQ here in Columbia, MO, but sure did feel the aftershock about 30 minutes ago.  Crazy stuff.  Per the Pantagraph, it was a 4.5 aftershock at 10:14am...

I read an article in Scientific American several years ago (couldn't find it online, which is why I linked to the Wikipedia recap of a similar article in Nature) that said that the New Madrid Fault posed a wider potential earthquake threat than the San Andreas Fault, because the loose sediments of all the major river valleys in the vicinity of New Madrid (especially the Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio rivers) present potential conduits for seismic waves if the Big One ever hits southeastern Missouri -- which explains the large orange fingers in that map at the bottom of the Wikipedia entry. According to the article, the sediment-borne shock waves could run right up the Illinois River as well and cause major damage to Peoria.

Man, our first off-season digression on CCIW Chat has certainly turned out to be a gloomy one.

I'm at work right now, and I'm pretty sure that any earthquake-derived swaying here in the Sears Tower isn't going to feel any different than the usual ever-so-slight wind-derived movement in the building that I've long grown used to feeling.
