Q- i personally think Desimone is a 1.  Can score the ball well, but from watching him play he is at his best when he can break people down and create for others.  He is also a great on ball defender and handles pressure extraordinarily well.

Sorry I don't know how to put others quotes in my reply but petemcb, you are absolutely correct again.  The MSL is nothing like the CCIW.  I apologize if my post was confusing but I was just trying to say that I believe Desimone is more prepared to play the point in the CCIW than Richter is to play the wing in the UAA.  Only my opinion.

Wheaton's tournament run must've definitely whetted Raymond's appetite, as someone who is a member of the Wheaton program told me the day after the team was knocked out of the CCIW tourney (and two days before the surprise announcement that the Sonic Atmospheric Disturbance would be given a ticket to the dance) that the chances of Raymond's return in 2008-09 were only about 5%.

This is obviously a huge development, and it means that the CCIW as a whole will be that much more competitive next season.

In the wake of Raymond's announcement, I wonder if Drew Gensler will contemplate a similar return to the court for Millikin after his hiatus?

The league is really going to be loaded next year.  I think Augustana will be a preseason Top 5 team.  Wheaton, with Raymond, may be in about the #10 range.  Elmhurst should be a Top 25 team behind Ruch and Burks, and could be outstanding if they find a point-guard.  Then there are a few up and coming teams - IWU, North Park, and Carthage, all with some impressive young talent.  NCC, which swept Wheaton, returns its top three scorers (Rogers, Drennan, and Barringer).

Anyone know who Millikin is recruiting?  I honestly have not heard the name "Millikin" all year long in discussions of where various good CCIW prospects are going.

That's really good news for the league overall.  With what Augie, Elmhurst, and Wheaton are returning, and the youngsters at some of the other schools, next year is going to be a great year for the CCIW.

I can't wait!

I figured it would either come to this or an embarrassingly ill-fated attempt with the Birmingham minor league baseball team that has been known to distract other Chicagoland basketball greats...........

You jest, O Bearded One, but there is actually a nugget of D3 basketball history behind your jest.

When Michael Jordan had his ill-fated experiment with baseball in 1994 as a member of the Birmingham Barons, one of his teammates was fellow outfielder Scott Tedder. Long-term D3 geeks may remember Tedder as the basketball All-American from Ohio Wesleyan who led the Battling Bishops to the 1988 D3 national championship. Jordan and Tedder played some one-on-one pickup games in Birmingham during their off hours that summer, and purportedly Jordan told his teammates or someone from the Birmingham press that Tedder was a pretty good basketball player. That's easily the highest compliment that a D3 basketball player has ever received.

Is there any random reference I could make to which you could not find, at minimum, a strain of a connection to some other D3 factoid?  It's like there's nothing that can be brought up here without you demonstrating the six degrees of separation principle, as it relates to D3.  I bow humbly.

Great news for us Thunder fans. Of course I am not surprised and feel much safer now that I won't be punished by stoning by Old Testament aficionados for making this a prophetic prediction a few weeks back! ;D

A thunderous announcement.

Now back to our regularly schedule updates on freshmen recruits from Q in Mizzou.
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.
