That is very sad news. I will keep his family and friends in my prayers

Mr. Ypsi

Bob,

That is just terrible news.  No one should have to bury a 21-year-old son. :'(  [I got a slight hint of the agony when our troubled 16-year-old son was hospitalized after what was feared to be a suicide attempt.  Even though it was fairly quickly unanimously agreed that he had not tried to take his life ('cutting' is a different problem), I was a total wreck for a week (and just now teared up again).  I can't even imagine the pain his parents must be enduring.]

Please extend my condolences to his family, friends, and teammates.

Terrible news!  I feel terrible.  21 years is just not enough.  Thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and teammates.

To everyone associated with IWU and IWU basketball and to the family of Kevin, I sent my heart felt condolences. This is a tragic time, but from the sounds of it, IWU is doing all it can to memorialize Kevin and make sure his legacy in Bloomington is not forgotten. In my time being associated with Wash.U. basketball, I have always felt a special for kinship for the IWU program. They are a classy bunch and they have arguably the best fans in the nation. Knowing the quality of individual that the school produces, I am quite sure Kevin was an outstanding person and my heart will be with the entire program in seasons to come. Once again, I am so sorry and have the utmost compassion for Kevin's family and everyone associated with the program.

As someone who recently lost my best friend of almost 20 years, the news of Kevin's death made me sick to my stomach.  I know what his family and friends are going through and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.  My thoughts and prayers are with Kevin's family and friends and the entire IWU community.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Kevin's family and to the entire IWU Basketball family. God Bless!

This is truly the worst kind of tragedy a family can endure. My deepest sympathies to the Bryant family and all of Kevin's friends. As a long time Upstate Eight parent and supporter, I remember John and Jay Bryant well as two of the toughest and respected competitors ever at West Aurora High. It sounds like Kevin inherited many of his father's and uncle's fine qualities.

Well, a very emotional day in Batavia as Kevin Bryant was laid to rest.  We've all been to funerals that were really more a celebration of a long, complete life.  Unfortunately this was not one of those...it was a pretty sad day and I think it's safe to say the healing process will be a long one for those close to KB.  It's still hard to believe that a 21-year-old who just walked across the stage to get his IWU diploma a month ago is gone.

I'm certainly not a spokesperson for the Bryant family or Illinois Wesleyan University, but I'd like to thank everyone who has posted thoughts here since the news of Kevin's passing.  I'd also like to thank those who have subtlely paid their respects by not posting "normal topics" here this week.  It was nice to have this space dedicated to KB during this tough stretch.  It seems like the D3sports.com message boards shine the most during difficult, "real life" times, and this is yet another example.

As Kevin's family and friends now being the healing process, I think it is important for things to return to normal here on CCIW Chat.  Again, thanks to all of you.  KB was a really, really good kid and someone all of you would have appreciated and enjoyed.
