Mr. Ypsi

Stumbled across this in my perambulations this evening:

"The graduation ceremony at Naperville IL Central High School was marred by the revelation that about half of the valedictorian's speech was plagiarized from a speech on the internet, but in this case the principal was helpless to punish him because the principal plagiarized his own speech.  He said he forgot to ask permission of the author, a Naperville Central graduate who was in the audience that day.  The principal has been reassigned, and the valedictorians's speech was removed from the graduation video."

Probably old news to some, but comments? follow-ups? elaborations?  [Hopefully no unwarranted NCC bashing! ;D]

"...and MacMurray (3-22) a NCAA Div III school out of Jacksonville, IL.  No Bible colleges this year, but as you can see two of the schools were a bit down last year."

The Highlanders could be/should be improved this season. Newcomers include Ryan Sichting (6'7" transfer from Lincoln Land CC), Malcom Larry (6'5" from state ranked Mounds-Meridian), Sean Knox (former all state guard from North Greene), CJ McClellen (6'3" transfer from Millikin who played for state championship Maroa-Forsyth), and 6'4" Travis Johnson (Cerro Gordo). There are 4-5 other recruits as well, and Mac has added a JV schedule. MacMurray has Polston and Schmidt coming back, and will add two starters from their 2006-2007 SLIAC co-champ team, Brady Greene and Farid Coleman. What all of that means, no one knows. But the team will be better. Tough non-conference schedule should get them ready for the SLIAC.

When did McClellen "play" for Millikin? There is no one with that name included in last year's Millikin stats

Titan Q

C.J. McClellan was a really good player on Maroa-Forsyth's Class A state championship team in 2006-07 - I saw that team play 7 or 8 times that season.  He played in the shadow of Robert Kreps (now Illinois-Chicago) but was a huge part of that Trojans team.

I thought he might develop into a solid player at Millikin as an upperclassmen.  He has a chance to be good at MacMurray.

Mr------

1. Can you please explain how this information is in any way relative to CCIW men's basketball?

2. Additionally, just what the hell is the intent of your mentioning plagiarism and then associating it with NCC in any way, shape, or form? If you are making an accusation, say what you mean and provide some documentation!

3. Perambulation means to walk through, to inspect (an area) on foot, or to walk about, roam, or stroll.
So, while you were out for an evening stroll, you just stumbled across an old newspaper article about the principal and the valedictorian at Naperville Central HIGH SCHOOL plagiarizing their graduation speeches and somehow thought this was, in some way, relevant to CCIW basketball generally and  to NCC specifically?

Makes me wonder:
1. What the hell you had for dinner that night?
2. How much more exciting could your evenings be?
3. What is your intent here?
4. Whether you need to see a doctor relative to a possible diagnosis of early onset of Alzheimer's Disease.

AndOne, get a grip!  I specifically DISassociated it from NCC.

To address your questions:

1. A rather delicious dish from a Chinese restaurant - thanks for asking.

2. I LIKE quiet Friday nights of 'mental perambulations' (widely-diverse reading) - so sue me.

3. My intent was to amuse, as well as to seek any further information those more local might know.  As a retired educator who spent several decades battling plagiarism, it struck my (sometimes macabre) sense of humor that a principal couldn't come down on a valedictorian because he was guilty of the same offense.

4. Since my mother-in-law (whom I happened to be very fond of) lost her 20-year battle with Alzheimer's, I'm not particularly keen on joking references to that horrid affliction.  (I've lost my taste for mother-in-law jokes, too, but you weren't guilty of that. :))  Besides, I've passed the age where they would call it 'early-onset' :(

Sorry to have ruffled your feathers; giving offense was not my intention.

I'm think McClellen played for Millikin's JV team last season, but not certain. I didn't mean to imply that he was a varsity player as a freshman. He was recruited by Coach Littrell. I would assume he has four years of eligibility left.

MacMurray is also getting Perry Bonds, an all state player from Griggsville-Perry, and Zac Ozee from Arcola. I think Bonds may have played in this year's ICBA Class all star game at IWU.

If C.J. McClellan did indeed play last season for Millikin's JV team (I don't remember him playing in the MU @ NPU JV game, for which I was the scorekeeper, but I don't claim to remember every JV player in the league), then he doesn't have four years of eligibility left. He has three. Junior varsity participation counts towards overall eligibility usage.

Knox will give the Highlanders a quality guard who can light up the scoreboard from the 1 or 2 spot.  A coaches' kid, Sean has exceptional ball handling abilities, court sense and ability to penetrate to create or score.  Knox was on the 2005 IBCA All Stars that played in Bloomington.

Anyone in the CCIW see Lawyer Crowder play last year for Peoria Manuel? I think he's about 6'6" and started on the Ram's state runner-up team last season. He's another MacMurray recruit that should help inside. Mac plays Elmhurst and Augie in Jacksonville this year, and plays in the North Central Tip-Off.

No, but I love that name!

This year, for the 1st time, LIVE STATS will be available for North Central home games in many sports.   :)
I know some posters have asked about this availability in the past. For further details, click the link below.

the following article may bring a chuckle to my fellow well travelled CCIW buddies - note the locale of the infraction.....

Koby Clemens, 2 other players arrested

SALEM, Va. (AP)—Police say the son of Roger Clemens and two other minor league teammates were arrested and briefly jailed after a disturbance at a restaurant in Salem, Virginia.

In a news release, police said Koby Clemens, Mark Ori and Jimmy Goethals were arrested after police were called to the parking lot of a restaurant in this western Virginia city.

Clemens and Ori were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Goethals was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

All three were held in the Roanoke County-Salem jail before being released on bond.

The three play for the Salem Avalanche, scheduled to play its final game of the season Monday in Lynchburg.

The arrests were first reported Monday by roanoke.com, the online version of The Roanoke Times.
