I am bumming cause Wheaton plays Grinnell this year away.  But it may be work the 4+ hour drive to see the score.  I don't think they even have a shot clock in their gym anymore cause it never goes below 20.   I believe they just have their fans count to ten and say shoot.  :)

Has Augie ever played them?

Not since 1965-66 (a 79-77 Grinnell win). Way before Dave Arseneault's circus came to town.

Now that's more like one of their half-time scores!

As reported over in the NAC room, North Park fell in a scrimmage to Benedictine by 17.  Don't have any details, sure some other posters will contribute those, just wanted to finally break news in an arena, and even though it was already reported in the Midwest Region section of the message boards, I'm claiming the breaking in the CCIW chat :P

Very surprising, at least to me.

Did all of North Park's top players participate?

The exhibition games probably aren't the best indicator, but judging from these two results, Carthage over Aurora and Benedictine over NP, Carthage certainly seems to have the upper hand over NP early on.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but Aurora has faired much, much better than Benedictine in the past few years in their conference

PG,
Carthage and North Park will have an opportunity to settle who has the upper hand this season on the court in January!  ;)

You are, indeed, correct that Aurora has fared much better than Benedictine the last few years BUT, I do not believe that correlates with your supposition that "Carthage certainly seems to have the upper hand over NP early on." While CC has a superlative player in Steve D., I think you'll find that NP has superior overall team talent, particularly in the areas of interior offense and defense, and rebounding, and especially in the areas of team speed and athleticism.

AndOne, do you think maybe "team speed and athleticism" are overrated?  NPU has probably led the conference in those categories for five, ten years or more.  Let's have one of the willing researchers on the board check out where that's gotten them in that time.  I have watched both NPU and Carthage in the last two weeks.  I'm not sure that I see NPU having the wide-ranging sweeping advantages over Carthage that you're giving them.

But if your merely going off of the game results, which is all we have to go off of right now, then that is pretty much what you have to assume right.

You also have to take into account that Aurora lost All-American Larry Welton (21.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg) as well as starters Doug Lambert (12.9), Jerrett Starwood (11.9) and Mike Leonard (10.7, 7.4). Benedictine's 2008-09 roster isn't up yet, but last year's shows only two seniors, one of whom was a starter.

An article on IWU senior Andrew Gilmore, who is now a student-coach for the Titans...

http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2008/11/04/usports/doc4910e92d0c67c704007412.txt

Thanks for the link, Q.  If it had already been reported that Andrew's playing career was definitely over, I'd forgotten - truly a shame.

If I'm still around by the time he's running for national office (doubtful :(), count me in! ;)

Any info on the Whitewater vs. Bluejays  scrimmage....Heard each team looked good for a half. Anyone there last night in Whitewater?.....

North Central hosted preseason #22 ranked U of Chicago in a scrimmage tonight.
Despite Chicago's decided height advantage, the Cardinals won the 1st half 43-37, and the 2nd half 33-27. No stats were kept, but several players made very nice contributions on both ends of the floor for the victorious Cards.

While it is hard to ever put too much stock in scrimmages, that is still a pretty impressive result.  Chicago is always solid.
