Thanks ecdubb.  That half hour difference makes it that much more likely that I can make it.  I hope my daughter's 6:00 game is whistle-free.

Final -- NCC 69,  McMurry TX 66 (in Las Vegas).

Mr. Ypsi

April,

Are you testing a theory as to how many rub-it-in posts about SoCal weather during midwestern blizzards you can make before your karma crashes? :o :P

In Ypsilanti we got about 8" today, but with high winds (there was about a 30" drift all the way down the middle of my driveway), but I didn't ding you - yet! ;D  (Of course, it helps that I have a teenager, so only had to nag [and pay], not shovel! ;))

Wash U obviously is trying to add more CCIW teams to it's nonconference slate, and it would seem like there would be significant reason to do so given the fact that Wheaton is the closest idealogically in terms of having national teams and the strongest academics of the CCIW schools.

I believe Coach Edwards told me Tuesday that Wash U and Wheaton are playing next year.

Two things:

#1 You guys are such.... guys. Though I have all sorts of issues with McDonalds, Charcoal Delights is still more or less unhealthy fast food. Aren't there theoretically lots of great Korean Restaurants around NPU? Ever heard of sushi? Excuse me while I go back to eating my Spinich Ravioli with pesto sauce. :P

#2 I am having the hardest time grasping the whole games cancelled for snow thing... it hit over 60 today out here in San Diego County with clear blues skies and I am not a bit worried about being able to make my Larry - Cal Lu game up in Thousand Oaks aside from dealing with LA traffic.

April---

1. Of course you realize guys will be guys! Charcoal Delights unhealthy? Blasphemy!
Eating Charcoal Delights occasionally is delightful. Eating raw fish would make me puke, which is an activity much more closely associated with an unhealthy state than is consuming a mouth watering and satisfying "delight."

2. Don't get California snobbish now. I sense you enjoyed your midwestern years!
:-\   ;D   :)

Final -- NCC 69,  McMurry TX 66 (in Las Vegas).

Just got off the phone with one of the NCC players and obtained a little more detail on the NCC win over McMurry. I was very leery about this game when I saw that the MuMurry roster lists two 6'7" players, one 6'8", one 6'10", and a 7 footer!

Evidently both teams shot poorly. I believe McMurry hit the first FG of the game, and that was their only lead of the day. As usual, Chris Drennan stood out for the Cardinals hitting 7/7 from the field and ending up with 20 points. Mitch Raridon scored 13, and was followed by David Twyman with 12, and Dominique King who had 11 off the bench including a crucial 3 pointer on which he was fouled and converted for a 4 point play. NCC leading scorer Reid Barringer evidently had what was probably his worst game, at least from a shooting standpoint, hitting only 3/12 from the field, including 1/8 from 3 point land, and 2/4 FTs. Matt Rogers saw limited PT as he was plagued by early foul trouble. NCC led 61-50 with 2:55 left, and then withstood a 16-8 run the rest of the way by McMurry to eak out the 3 point victory.

Another non-conference win for the CCIW, Good luck to the Cards tomorrow vs Mary Washington from Virginia!

IWU Women 101, Fontbonne 53 FINAL (without Heydorn) -- Lady Titans now ranked #2.  Keep it going.

iwu---

It might be a good idea to post the above result in the CCIW room on the WOMEN'S board!

Readers there might appreciate the news even more than those of us here on the MEN'S board do!   ;)

IWU 70
Chicago 55

Doug Sexauer: 19 points
John Koschnitzky: 8 rebounds
Travis Rosenkranz: 7 assists

IWU was very sloppy with the basketball, turning it over 19 times.

The Titans moved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in-region.  Chicago falls to 0-10.

58-11 and still climbing.  Remarkable.

A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all CCIW friends and comrades.

Sunny, warm and even some relatively clean air in Hong Kong today.  April and I can gloat as the rest of you dig out, slip, slide and away . . . on the ice and snow.  Sure glad I'm not trying to fly into O'Hare today from Asia.

Mr. Ypsi

Mark,

A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year back at you! :)

But watch out for those weather updates - your karma is much less impregnable than April's! ;D  Even though Global Warming would overall be a disaster, there are days when some of us cheer for it! :D

So a few countries (and Louisiana and Florida) disappear - at least I can keep wearing my jacket instead of my coat! ::)

iwu70

Hey, Chuck, happy holidays to you.

But, think what Hong Kong (Victoria) harbour is going to look like if we have 1-2 meters rise in ocean levels?  Not a happy thought.  Hong Kong is really struggling with the air quality issues from the Pearl River Delta area of South China, more than global warming concerns just now . . . though our time will come.

I'll be on the IWU campus in late January and hope to catch 1-2 games -- both men and women.  My Mother is having her 90th on the 28th, so a big party is planned with all the family gathering 'round.  After the party/reception at IWU, we'll retire to the Millikin game!  My Mom and Dad are big fans of IWU basketball too -- part of that busload of travelling greybeards that has followed the Titans all these years.  They go to every game they physically can, though at 90 (both of them) that's happening less and less.  They couldn't get out tonight due to the ice -- so caught the win over Chicago on WJBC.  Hope the Lady Titans can go further into the tournament this year.  Men are coming along, but don't see them winning the CCIW this year . . . we'll see.  Hope they surprize us all.

Good luck digging out . . . and have a happy holidays.

Elmhurst 89
Benedictine 83

It appears it was not a defensive struggle...

Minus the Jerald Bailey concussion, this result might have been reversed.  He could have made that kind of difference against Elmhurst's guards.

In no attempt to resurrect the old comparative scores debate  ;):  a couple of weeks ago, California Lutheran 84  Carthage 78.  Last night, California Lutheran 85  Lawrence 65 after Lawrence being up 37-32 at the half.  Talk amongst yourselves.
