Redmen will have a better defensive effort now.  Scoring will be scattered among others.  Addition by substraction.
If you can't get to class, bye bye.

It's not the end of the world, but it sure feels wierd having NCC not only playing well, but believing in themselves enough to win at Shirk.

Congratulations to NCC for a great win at the Shirk.

I am sure this victory meant probably as much to the players as is did to Cardinalpride, the guy that stood his ground on a NC upset (and was the only one). I believe this was a very important win, but this was only the first game of the conference. This win definitely tops the last one at the Shirk 3 years ago.

It was great to see coach Trost admit that his team was outcoached by NC. That is just a great attitude that I hope everyone in the league learns from.

Coach Raridon....keep doing what you are doing! You have earned everyone's respect with the great job you have done in the last 2 years. I am looking forward to see how high you will take the program.

(Welcome back Greg!)

Did "we" ever learn why Raridon left NE Wesleyan?  I doubt NCC lured him with megabucks.  If Raridon succeeds in lifting the Cardinal program, does his resume becomes ready for a D2/D1 openings?  Is that his plan or did he simply want to move from one red place to another?

Greg:  I think attending games is more stressful than reading and typing.  I am not sure if I'll return to the gym this year after witnessing the Westminster debacle.  The assurances I received from Old Main...Helwig Center will improve recruiting....we've got high-energy coaches...blahblahblah...doesn't translate into being competitive and earning some victories.

It's now been over a decade since Bosko departed.  Three coaches later.  I never thought Peterson would win more conference games than another Viking.

I suppose I should attend Senior's Night because Mathisen is a class act and I have enjoyed watching him play.

Three road victories in the first 3 conference games indicates the league is likely to remain unpredictable throughout the season. Augie's win over the CCIW's poorest team is not a surprise, but as some others commented, I think Millikin's win at Elmhurst is just as surprising as NCC's win at the Shirk.

Most of us were starting to give NCC more respect after they beat a good Franklin team on the road, but few would have expected the projected 6th place Big Blue to beat Elmhurst on the road.  Nonetheless, it is clear NCC has two winners in John Thorne and Todd Raridon coaching their to major sports programs The Cardinals were pretty much a conference doormat in both sports, when my offspring were at Augie in the 1990s. It's clear that the administration at NCC is committed to excellence in athletics, and that really puts the pressure on the rest of us to keep pace.

From where I sit, why Raridon left Nebraska Wesleyan is between Todd and Nebraska Wesleyan.  And, again from my view point, any discussion of that subject does not belong in CCIW Chat room.

Todd is a quality coach in every way which IWU fans knew that having faced Nebraska Wesleyan several times.  I thought Coach Raridon was (and is) ready to be a head coach at D2 or Assistant at D1.  NCC, and the CCIW, is very lucky to have Todd Raridon.

Nor, I was not surprised last year to see a discipline approach invoked in the NCC program both on and off the court.  I am somewhat surprised how quickly the team has responded.  Yet, you could tell by the end of last season this NCC team was more disciplined than prior teams under Benji Taylor.  (And, I liked Taylor.)   I expected a tough battle from Simmons; however, I was equally impressed with Krumtinger and Walton whom seem to have taken their game to the next level.

The win in the Shirk is a credit to Coach Raridon, his staff, and the Cardinal team.  And, thanks for some additional motivation Feb 1st at the "hangar".

Congratulations to NCC for the win over the Titans.

Greg - Welcome back!  I had been considering putting my unabridged Webster's and Roget's away.  Hum, I think I will keep them handy.

And, Diehard -- nice to see you posting up here too!

Millikin with 2 wins & Elmhurst with 2 losses?  Doubt North Park will to concede a loss to the Bluejays nor Elmhurst willing to give Augustana a W

Suspect both Millikin and Elmhurst teams posted results and somehow both "took"

If Todd Raridon is looking at higher (i.e., lower  ;)) coaching opportunities, getting out of Lincoln was a logical first step.  Naperville may not exactly be the big time, but it is a whole lot closer to it than Lincoln.  Besides, it must be pretty unrewarding to coach at NebWes, struggling with identity issues (are we NAIA?  are we D3) and as close to zero visibility as you can get in the NCAA.  There may not be much press at any level of D3, but if you win in the CCIW, the right people notice, and can even get to a game or two to watch you.

first i'd like to congratulate north central in there big win over illinois wesleyan. simmons is a very good player who has worked hard to get himself and his team where they are now. also great job by carthage beating grinnell up in kenosha. i did hear however that bowens and hart didnt play and i'm not sure why. but what ever the reason may be i hope they both bounce back strong. but the wesleyan upset is a good indicator of how crazy conference is going to be this year. so good luck to all the teams in the cciw.

and happy new year to everybody!

Your suspicion is correct. The standings don't autocorrect as often as they used to because the script is such a load on the server but I see one is running now.

Huge win at the "peanut can" for NCC. ;D Look forward to seeing the old green wave at the airplane hangar in Feb. By then both teams will probably have two or three L's. Can't wait.

My goodness, the Iwu backers are extremely quite.
But as the trend goes, they will be there at the end.  NC will start hot, and fade as usual.

Some of us may be 'quite', but many of us are NEVER 'quiet'! ;D
