I'm not too experienced with knowledge of Wheaton players, etc.

However, I had a chance to see five plus years of Coach Schauer's system at Gordon. I might be able to add some insight as to how things might go in his system at Wheaton.

Not sure if any of you listened to the 'Thunder Report' interview with Schauer, but he said that Wheaton fans will see 'a lot of the same' when he arrives. This is pretty much expected, as Harris was his mentor in his Assistant days at Wheaton. Basically, he runs an up-tempo motion offense and tight man-to-man defense.

When he first arrived at Gordon, he had a number of guards and maybe one or two passable big men. Throughout his time there, he consistently added depth to the post to the point that the current roster boasts five or six solid options down low. All this while maintaining a backcourt of shooting and defensive talent.

Schauer's biggest mark on the Gordon program is/was his recruiting ability. He honestly built the program from the ground up and while he only had a few stints in the rankings, the team he put out on the floor last season was head and shoulders above anything seen at Gordon in the past.

I would believe that Schauer's adaptability would allow him to utilize Wheaton's roster to emphasize talent and will first and foremost. Outside of pure basketball ability, Schauer values hustle, integrity, and basketball IQ.

I hope this helps in some manner. While I have had no official association with Gordon Basketball, I have followed it consistently enough over the past few years to put in my two cents. If you have any specific questions I might be able to answer, just let me know.

I agree with thunderstruck88 about Carwell, and based upon what scout said (and what I would consider common-sense coaching) I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Mike Schauer take the Hydra approach to Wheaton's center position, i.e., turn it into a many-headed monster.

It certainly looks like a great recruiting class for Augie. All much needed big guys except DeMoss, who may be the best of the bunch. Surprisingly there are no transfers in this class, as transfers have been important in several of the recent Augie recruiting classes. I too cannot wait for next season, but that probably goes for most of us posting on this site

Thanks for the input on this one.  Nice to hear that he brings a great ethic to his new position.

Evidence that Schauer has pull... Even a week into the job. Enjoy the ride CCIW fans!

Batavia star David Bryant will play at DII Lewis U. He is the brother of the late Kevin Bryant who played at Illinois Wesleyan of the CCIW and graduated in 2008. The Lewis coach is Scott Trost who was head coach at IWU when Kevin enrolled there.

Actually, Pete, it was only 2:25 Central Time! After I awoke in the recliner in the basement following the Blackhawks game which wore me out watching. Nothing like a little late night basketball research and some Spider Solitaire to get you sleepy again.  ::)
I DO appreciate your concern!   :)

Robert---

I suspect they are finishing up school and enjoying time with their families in their homes in Vilnius, N'Djamena, Buenos Aires, Kiev, and Arecibo. Its taking a little longer to gather info and compile the press releases this year.   :-X

Although I can only boost your karma once today, the time zone correction, the Hawks game, late night basketball research and Spider Solitairing yourself to sleep are each worth a little karma.  Nice play.

Me thinks it must be a hater as I can't imagine I've really offended anyone lately.  :-X
Another reason this poster is strongly contemplating retirement.  :-\
