11/29 - vs Manchester
12/1 - vs Monmouth

Who makes up these schedules? Augie finishes the season with 4 straight home games. Last season 3 of their last 4 games were on the road. In midseason they are on the road constantly. I assume other teams schedules have similar situations. Why not alternate home and road games, so they do not get stacked up like this? If Augie is still a contender with 4 games to go they have a big advantage. On the other hand they could be on the losing side of the ledger before the home court advantage kicks in.

I just ran across a delicious bit of trivia and have no idea where to post it.  So I figured I'd try my 'home board' (and one of the most active on d3 sports.com).

In the entire history of major league baseball, of all pitchers with at least 20 decisions against the Yankees, who has the best winning percentage?

[Odds that Gregory Sager will correctly answer within 24 hours: 2:1 ;D.  That someone will beat him to the punch(line): 3:2.]

Wow well Elmhurst didn't exactly get an easy start with the CCIW schedule. They open up @ Millikin who has given us lots of trouble in the past few years followed by a home game against Augie, a road game up in Kenosha, and then another home game against IWU. Will be a tough start for the Bluejays but hopefully they can get off to a good start. I'm already looking forward to being a fan for next years CCIW schedule. Can't we start these games in June?

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

IWU added a late recruit into the mix - 6-4/225 F Tyler Bontemps from Lincoln Land Community College/Belleville East H.S.  Bontemps redshirted at Lincoln Land in 2007-08 and played his freshmen season in 2008-09, so he will be a sophomore at IWU next year.

As a senior at Belleville East in 2006-07, Bontemps averaged 10.0 ppg and 6.3 rpg.  I don't know anything else about him other than, I guess, he is a physical specimen - a couple weeks ago Ron Rose called him a "6-4 Sean Dwyer."  Those who have seen how 5-10 Dwyer is built know that a 6-4 version would be a big, strong kid.  I don't know if Bontemps is a 3 or an undersized 4.

Bontemp's dad, Kevin, was a high school star at Morton (alma mater of Ron Rose) and played for the Illini in the early '80s.

Maybe significant down the road, maybe not.

According to the story I was reading, Babe Ruth's 17-5 record is the best ever.  I guess the Yankee philosophy even then was "If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em"! :o

Q,

If your family has a history of male pattern baldness, you might not need the $25 million to get your "Q Dome."  ;)

Daniel, I may be in the market for Grecian Formula soon, but I don't think the Q Dome will be on display anytime soon.  (And I may go Donald Trump before I let that happen anyway!)

Just realized that 2009-10 will have to be a first for IWU.  The Titans will play every single game of the season vs NCAA Division III teams.  Every year since IWU joined D3 (1983-84 I believe) the Titans have played one or more (most years multiple) non-D3's (NCAA DI, DII, and NAIA).

11/15 - @ Benedictine
11/18 - vs Webster
11/21, 22 - Titan Tip-Off Tournament (Wash U, Ohio Wesleyan, Johnson & Wales)

Would be interesting to hear how J&W ended up in the tourney  -  I mean, a .500 team from a bottom of the barrel conference  --why not bring in a solid fourth and have a Great tourney?  There must have been some sort of connection.....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!
