I've seen schools do the "men's game first, women's ame follows" and it always leads to an embarrassing result.  (I've seen it in basketball and soccer.)  What will happen will be a mass exodus after the men play, and the women will observe it while they are warming up.  American culture is not going to change, at least in any of our lifetimes.

I'm watching the NPU @ WC women's game on WETN, and the gym is practically empty. I feel sorry for both teams. I think that the Wheaton administration stuck it to them by scheduling them for the late game, because your prediction came true -- mass exodus during the women's warmups, and they had to watch all those people leave.

I watched the final 10 minutes via Carthage video stream.  Had Augie made their FT's in the final 10:00, it would not have been close at all down the stretch.

Carthage looked very much like a one-man team...the supporting cast couldn't make a shot.

Augie looked tremendous on defense.

Duncan Lawson led the Titans tonight, finishing with 12 pts, 4 reb, and 4 assists...shooting 4-6 from 3.  Ryan Connolly had 10 & 5 and John Koschnitzky 10 & 7.

The Titans led by 24 at halftime in this one.  IWU outrebounded Elmhurst 41-20, and that probably tells the story.

That's not entirely true. Max Cary had 14 points on 4-8 shooting. But nobody else besides him stepped up for Carthage, as Augie held the Red Men to under 32% from the field on the night. Djurickovic had 21 points and nine assists.

Kyle Nelson is playing as well as, if not better than, any other big man in this league right now. He had a 24 and 13 night for Augie.

Really tough loss tonight for the Redmen, to blow a lead like that in an important game is deflating.
I believe that Carthage has the easiest schedule the last four games.  Hopefully, they respond well and can build some momentum going into a tournament run.

Freshman James Robertson, Elmhurst's best three-point shooter (which this year is like being the best-looking warthog in the herd), didn't get into the game tonight. Is he injured?

I'm referring to the final 10 minutes of the game (which is all I saw).  When Augie got the lead and the pressure of the stretch in a big game started to mount, the Carthage "supporting cast" was non-existent.  There was a combination of guys looking scared to take a big shot (passing up wide-open looks), as well as some very costly mistakes (turnovers, bad decisions, etc).  Djurickovic won the game at Wheaton basically all by himself...in the final 10 minutes, it looked like the rest of the team was just hoping he'd do his thing and pull it out.

As Bosko said on the postgame, "The freshmen really looked like freshmen tonight."

Yeah, I was following that game on LiveStats, and it seemed as though Carthage was stuck on 48 points forever. Turns out it was almost five minutes.

Augie allowed only eleven Carthage points in the last 12:39 of the game. That's the definition of a suffocating defense.

It was tremendous defense, but again, the Carthage supporting cast either wouldn't take open shots, or took bad shots (Kelly and Guzman each had wild 3-point attempts in the final 5 minutes).  The other Red Men were just standing around waiting for SD to bail them out.
