Come on GS still with the Barney Fife references.  Remember behind every Barney there's a wise Andy Taylor.
(Campus security isn't even allowed to carry guns or even the one bullet that Barney was allowed.)

it's not a reference to Wheaton's campus security, Bully. It's a reference to the Wheaton Police Department, which was called into King Arena two years ago in that classic case of overkill. But you're right that I've overworked the Barney Fife meme; from now on, all WPD references will cite Rosco P. Coltrane of The Dukes of Hazzard fame.

The "Wheaton rowdies" kicked out of the Carthage home game were friends of McCrary.   So maybe the Carlson Crazies have rivals in the Trevian Hooligans?

"Trevian hooligans" ... gotta love that one. Biff and Chip and Chad letting the air out of the tires of Mimsy's Porsche in the country club parking lot during the spring cotillion, or substituting brandy-snifter dribble glasses while the older men are busy cutting their cigars.

This is the funniest post I have ever read!

Update: I guess I need to get out more because I am still laughing out loud, almost three minutes after reading it for the first time.

Steve Djurickovic was named CCIW Player of the Week today. That makes three weeks in a row for Steve D., and it's the first time in at least the past eleven seasons that anyone's done that in this league.

While investigating that, I thought that for for the sake of discussion I'd post the list of all the CCIW players who've won Player of the Week at least four times over that eleven-season stretch:

sort of like the nose dive a certain team has done the past five games - except i dont think they will survive the fall and there is no one-armed man that they can blame their troubles on.

When a man who spent a huge chunk of his adult life compiling sports minutiae for the CCIW accuses someone else who spent about fifteen minutes doing the same thing that he "needs a life," the phrase "pot calling the kettle black" leaps to mind. ;)

We're in the midst of a very intense snowstorm here in Chicagoland, and it's not supposed to let up for another 24 hours. There's already been one change in the CCIW schedule, as the Carthage @ Elmhurst women's game scheduled for tonight has been postponed until tomorrow, when it will be played as the first game in a women's/men's doubleheader.

If anyone learns of a postponement or a change in time or venue, please post it here so that those who are making plans to attend the game can adjust them accordingly.

Dennis, you beat me to that obvious retort! ;)

What surprised my about Greg's list was that Amelianovich was the ONLY Titan on it.  While IWU has been down several of the past eleven years, that span does also include two Final Four teams (and five first team All Americans, counting Dauksas twice).

Yeah, Dennis, you're absolutely right. Nobody should ever do anything unless they're getting paid for it.

AndOne, I have no insider knowledge, but knowing Tony Ladd from my days at Wheaton I am not at all surprised that he would want the women to get the late game simply out of fairness. He has always been extremely pro-female athletics to the point where it sometimes irritated a few men's programs (not that they would openly admit).

That said, I don't think they pull this switch on a Saturday night with IWU in town.

... although they might move the game to a 4 pm tipoff in order to make the IWU fan contingent miss the early-bird specials at the local restaurants. ;)

I was comfortable with the explanation that Tony Ladd switched the games in order to reward the Wheaton women's team with the marquee time slot. I still think it was a bad decision, since it led to a mass exodus that must've felt like an insult to both schools' women's teams (the Crazies didn't stick around to watch their female peers play, either, so both the NPU and Wheaton women probably felt unhappy about the time switch as they watched everyone leave while they were in their shootarounds).  But I never really thought that Ladd did it in order to avoid a potential (perceived) problem with the Crazies.

Greg, the NPU bus that brought most of those students out to Wheaton was leaving right after the mens game.  Apparently it was an administrative decision  -  not a fan decision.  There were students that would have stayed but the bus was already warmed up and ready to go.
