Depends upon who's doing the laughing, Lanny. For some odd reason I suspect that you and I don't see eye to eye on this matter.  ;)

Cardinalpride,  I am disagreeing with you. North Central did a great job tonight. Schlem didn't want to play and the redmen didn't even play a minute besides Jefferey having half of their points. A dominate performance by North Central. If Schlem wasn't such a head case he would be a good ball player.

Carthage is a team full of talent but they can't put it together. I'm a big fan, but we just aren't that good. If you can't play as a team you aren't going to be good, especially in this conference. Jeffery is a great player but no one is stepping up to help him out. I hope that we can win some games and gain some momentum for next year, if we can talk about next year yet.

Redmen, it seems to me from reading the posts and looking at some of their boxscores, Carthage is missing some true leadership at point guard position.  I have never seen the kid play, but would Trey Bowens be able to provide some of that?  And what's his status anyway?  I heard there was a chance he would be back in a couple of weeks.  Is that true?

Quote from: diehardfan on January 18, 2006, 10:40:04 PMIncidentally Greg... Fiddlers and Wiele's play against IWU has gotta make you feel better about their performaces at North Park, no?

No, not really. And the game was at Wheaton, not at NPU.

Quote from: diehardfan on January 18, 2006, 10:40:04 PMThe worst stat, for Wheaton, seems to be that we were outrebounded by nine.

I'd say that the worst stat for Wheaton seems to be that you were outscored by six.  :D

Carthage's effort tonight was just absolutely horrible.  From the head coach to the last guy on the bench with the exception of  Kyle Jeffery who might as well have been out there by himself.  I'm extremely disapointed in the coaching.  It looked like Bosko was just pouting rather than coaching like it wasn't him fault his kids didn't play well.  He is a joke.  It's a shame you people hold him in such high regard,  he shows no class as a winner and or a loser.  I'm sure he preaches never quiting to his kids and that's exactly what he did tonight quit on the kids, I'm not sure he even stood up in the second half except when he was forced to during a timeout.  It's dissapointing to see the way these guys play.  I wish they knew how much some people would love to have a chance to play college basketball.  Other than Jeffery the whole Carthage staff should be embarrassed and ashamed and I really hope they can win at least a few games as to not become the North Park of the league.

I totally agree that bosko took the night off from coaching.  Bosko has had his run at carthage and should resign at the end of year.  The fans in the stands had to tell him to call timeout when down by 20 in first half.   Bosko said on his pregame radio show that when he coached at northpark he was 54-0 against carthage, elmhurst, and carroll college.  Hellooo Bosko stop living in the past.

Cardinal- Trey would provide some help but I dont see him as a "true" point guard. I see Billy Jacklin as a true point guard who can play defense, pass the ball, and rebound. He's about 6'4. He started 4 games in a row, played 4 minutes and didn't see the court the rest of the game which suprised me.  But i see Trey as being a help, he can shoot and drive to the hoop. It seems teams penetrate and kick out for 3, Carthage doesn't have that right now.

One thing I noticed at games is that every team Carthage plays has great ball movement which open the 3 up. Carthage doesn't have good ball movement. Pretty much give the ball to Jeffery and let him score.

From the people back when Bosko was back at North Park, is he doing anything differently now than he was back then??

CCIW Watcher, I was one of those fans who was yelling for a timeout in the stands...

I'm staying out of this. If you Carthage people feel the need to drive Bosko out of town, that's your problem.

BLOOMINGTON - So, Wheaton is rebuilding. Yeah, right.

The 6-foot-8 Wiele was nothing short of amazing. Having made 6 of 20 3-point attempts entering the game, Wiele nailed 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to a career-high 22 points.

Quoting Coach Bosko Djurickovic on the Jan. 18 North Central Loss:  "We're not in the ballpark with North Central.  They're the best team we've faced all year.  This was the first time, in a long, long time, that we weren't competitive at any point in the game.  North Central took us out of what we want to do.  We weren't able to execute, offensively or defensively.  North Central is having fun, and they played the game like a championship team that we used to be.  We just aren't at that level right now.  Kyle Jeffery played as good an offensive game as anybody I've had since Mike Barach at North Park in the 1980s.  Most of the great Carthage players that I've had enjoyed a lot of help, but Kyle is basically doing it all by himself.  He's

Just another amazing night in the CCIW where anybody can beat anybody if you don't come ready to play.  I'm surpised many people are pushing for a Bosko exit?  I seem to recall that only a few years ago Carthage was the CCIW Champ? and in 2001 ( I believe)  made it into the tourney along with EC and IWU.  Winning this league is tough! and I don't understand why many Carthage backers want him out? ???

I've said this the past 2 years when Wesleyan has come to the Crackerbox...  IWU has had one convincing win in the last 5 appearances at North Park, and that was last year.  Two years ago North Park beat IWU at home, the year before Park was robbed in triple overtme by bad calls at the end of regulation, OT 1, and OT 2.  With the way IWU has been playing if I were a Wesleyan fan I would just hope for a W, not a "laugher."

Sorry, Cardinalpride, I am NOT Disagreeing with you. Sorry about that. But North Central is the real deal. As of right now North Central is the front runner for conference from seeing Auggie, IWU, and listening to Elmhurst play. Anything can happen though.

I would think that Augie is the front runner, they haven't lost yet.  This could change on Saturday of course, but I think Augie is at the top of the standings as of today.

Sager,

With all due respect to Bosko when he was at North Park, he has not done a very good job in the last couple of years. I don't know if he should be "driven out of town" but he needs to change something. Certainly, his level of care is not evident at this point in the season. His team has absolutely no interest in playing defense of any kind and he appears to have no interest in teaching them.

It was very unfortunate all of the Bosko Bashing that was taking place in the stands last night from students to community to parents.

The poster who requested the Bosko "quit living in the past" could not be more correct. EVERY statement he makes compares his current group to the McDaniel/Wiertel teams or the NP teams.

Having seen both the Augie vs. Carthage game and the NC vs. Carthage game, Augie will have a lot of trouble containing NC.

The only thing that makes the comparison difficult was Carthage played with a little more urgency against Augie vs. mailing it in vs. NC.

Augie will have to play very well to have a chance to beat them....or NC miss a lot of shots. If both teams play their best, NC wins.
