I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

On our way to welcome Titans newest recruit - grandson #2 decided to arrive early!  Born April 9th 8 lbs 7 oz 21 inches long, Samual Kenneth is shy of 1/2 oz of big brother Ben (who continues to be off the charts on height).

Both were off the charts at birth, Ben projected at 6' 5" 235 so maybe 'little' brother will give Titan Nation a future #4 & #3 combo; we'll just have to wait 18 years to find out!

Congratulations!

6-8/240 would be nice...oh, and with nice touch from 15 feet too.
Thanks - at the rate Ben is growing, I would not rule out 6' 8"  ... and, we started working on the touch a year ago - first toy from gramps and nana -  Hoops and a basketball!

It's been mentioned here that Nathan Ropp is heading to IVCC.  He says he chose IVCC over another JC and Elmhurst...

That's all I got from a quick Google search for recruiting news around the CCIW.  Kind of quiet right now...usually in mid-April there are a few more names to be found out there in newspaper articles.

Things should be shaking out in the next couple weeks.

With reference to TQ's above 2 posts, does anyone else find it at least a little surprising that there kids would choose JCs over Augie and Elmhurst?

In one case you have a 6'7" kid choosing to go to Sauk Valley Community College, of all places, over Augie. Several questions arise. Did he turn out to be a non admit at Augie? Did he play against weaker opposition? Was he scared away by Augie's already big stable of bigs?
In the 2nd case, an all state guard is choosing Illinois Valley CC over Elmhurst.  The same questions as above also arise in this case.

Initially at least, other than cost, its a little tough to understand why a kid would choose relatively unknown (at least in the Chicago suburban area) junior colleges over established and successful programs at 4 year colleges in the highly recognizable and competitive CCIW.
Perhaps they are hoping to attract the attention of D1s or D2s while at the JCs?

A few weeks ago I posted about an upcoming change in the coaching ranks within the CCIW similar to Steve Schafer's leaving North Park for Benedictine this past season. I believe the details of this situation may shake out on Monday.

Augustana is getting a very good PG from Davenport, IA...don't know the name.

The first to locate the player's name wins a free bowl of soup at Arthur's in Rock Island.

Lots of kids choose jucos over D3s because they think that they can earn a scholarship somewhere after shining on the juco level. Even if they don't earn a scholie somewhere down the road, it's a money-saver for the family -- two years of cheap tuition (or no tuition at all, if the kid earned a basketball scholie) at a juco, followed by two years at a pricey private four-year school, as opposed to doing all four years at a pricey private and going deep into debt.

Not every kid makes his school choice by the end of April.
