Landon Gamble (9.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg)...

Looks like a big, strong kid...I see a little Tyler Pierce in Gamble.

In Landon Gamble, North Central has hopefully filled one of its biggest needs. Namely, that of beef in the middle, the absence of which was highly evident last season, particularly during the conference portion of the season. Teams like Wesleyan (Sexauer), Carthage (Pierce), and North Park (Crosby) continually pounded the ball inside with little opposition from the Cardinals.

Gamble, a 6'6" 240 pound IBCA Special Mention All State center, should provide the answer to the question of "Where is the beef?" Along with his size, Gamble brings some nice footwork and interior moves to the court. Trained in the Lockport system that recently produced Doug Sexauer and Justin Jarosz, Landon has a solid foundation upon which to build a solid career at the next level. With proper conditioning and hard work, he has the definite potential to develop along the lines of Carthage's Pierce, and North Park's Crosby. One of the primary targets of this year's NCC recruiting efforts, Landon is a great addition to the Cardinal lineup.

Just FYI, I've listed Gamble at 6-5, since that is what almost everything I find on him online says.  I've tried to be as realistic as possible with heights - for example, I have Andrew Ziemnik and Eric Dortch both at 6-4 despite both being mentioned as "6-5" in numerous places.  And I have Nick Kladis as 6-0, despite the fact that a couple places say he is as tall as 6-2...most say 6-0.

If you can send documentation from Gamble's family physician indicating that he is legitimately 6-6 I will gladly change on the list of recruits.

IWU has landed Kyle Miklasz, a 6-3 SG from Hersey H.S. (listed at 6-4 in some places).  Miklasz averaged 13.2 ppg as a senior and made 56 3-pointers (shooting 40% from 3).

Per the links below, looks like he is a pure 2-guard with good size, shoots it very well, and can also defend.  Miklasz scored 32 points in the IHSA 4A tournament vs Lake Zurich, connecting on 9 3-pointers.

City/Suburban Hoops Report has Miklasz rated as the #66 player in the IHSA Class of 2010.  In terms of D3 commitments so far...

#62 Victor Davis (IWU)
#66 Kyle Miklasz (IWU)
#79 Alan Aboona (Wash U)
#87 Chris Klimek (Wash U)
#99 Kevin Schlitter (Augustana)
#106 Michael Banczer (St. Norbert)
#115 Brady Zimmer (IWU)

I suspect they have Miklasz too high, but it sure looks like he is a very good CCIW recruit.

I've been pretty sure all along that NPU was going to get Josh McNaughton, given his family connections to the Park. What I'm wondering is whether he's going to follow in the footsteps of his dad and older brother by joining the Vikings on the soccer pitch, if not this year then at some point in the future. He was recruited to NPU as a basketball player, but he was a very good soccer player for McHenry as well as being the PG on the basketball team -- and his older brother Ryan is one of the stars of what will be a pretty good North Park soccer team next fall.
