sac,  Yea and Wheaton also has a Spencer on the team, so that even makes it more confusing.
Spencer, Tim, McCrary, McCreary:)  I don't envy Coach S. getting all those names straight.  Even more amusing will be the radio play by play.  They will be better off just using their numbers and not names:)

Gs, as I said before, I'm not disagreeing with you. Steve d does play pg for carthage. IMO, since I view him as a scorer first passer second, because I believe he would excel and be as comfortable if not more playing off the ball. It wouldn't surprise me if steve d played off the ball more next season. Carthage would have to have found another guard whom coach b felt could run the team as well as his son but also be more of a pure shooting threat!

I understand your point with the naming of all the great point guards in the history of the game that scored the ball also.  You forgot Isaiah thomas by the way! ;) However, every pg on your list with the exception of two(oscar and tiny)were pass first pg's! None of them, excluding the two mentioned above, consistently led their teams in scoring. Steve d greatest strength, IMO, is his ability to dominate games with his scoring.  A traditional great pg  dominates games with distribution, execution, and tempo more so than scoring. The majority of the pg's on your list greatest  strength is in the latter. In the end, we're probably splitting hairs anyway.:)

What's funny is I googled "lead guard" basketball and the first NBA player of reference was jordan! ;)

I don't see that at all.  Djurickovic seems the most comfortable on the floor when the ball is in his hands.

It would be fun to see what the full rosters are projecting to look like, but one thing that seems likely is that there should be a full contingent of JV games being played this year.  There were a number of times last year where it seemed like a couple of injuries eliminated JV teams for schools.

The new problem may be getting enough minutes for everyone during JV games and figurig out when to play them.

CCIWFAN3

I know the rules...if you want a different topic then subject change the subject yourself...but my gosh...alright already on the lead guard point guard thing.  Stevie D is a guard. I think everyone can agree on that! How about those CUBS!:)

CCIWFAN3

Since I can't type, and no one has changed the subject to the CUBS....I will stay on the topic.
S.D. is a point guard and he can score.  Most great point guards that can score are kept at that position becasue the other 2 guards don't have good point guard skills. S.D. could play the 2 or 3, but the team wouldn't be as good.  The other 2 guards can't break their man down off the dribble like S.D. can.  Although I think the big kid (with the long hair) would like to play point, Bosko will leave S.D. at point:)

Good points. The dual-gender Saturday doubleheaders and the budgetary crunch that's hitting a lot of schools will put pressure on CCIW schools to rein in their JV programs. But the sheer size of all eight teams, even allowing for the attrition that will undoubtedly take place between now and November 15, practically demands that coaches find a way to schedule as many JV games as possible.

Wheaton is the bell cow in this case; Wheaton typically brings in the smallest recruiting classes on a year-by-year basis and has the smallest roster in terms of numbers. But Mike and Owen and Nate are bringing in ten freshmen -- a huge number by Wheaton standards -- and if all of the eligible returnees come back Wheaton will have twenty players in uniform next year, and that's pretty high by Wheaton standards. North Park is in an even more interesting situation. There was only one senior (Nick Williams) among the sixteen players who were in uniform at season's end last winter. Add four players who either didn't play or didn't finish last season because of injury or voluntary hiatus (Clayton Cahill, Kendall Greer, Phil Schniedermeier, and Sam Schwartz), and Paul Brenegan is looking at as many as nineteen returning players to mix in with the 10-to-12 newbies the Park will be bringing in. It should make for very crowded open gyms in the fall at Foster & Kedzie. And NPU is not alone in that respect; Bob has alluded to the fact that IWU will have a huge squad in terms of numbers. So will Carthage, as usual. Although no one seems to know how Millikin is doing in terms of newbie numbers, I'm guessing that Marc Smith will have no fewer than twenty players as well this fall in open gym, and possibly a lot more than that. Elmhurst and NCC should be up over twenty again, too, and Augie's always among the largest rosters in the league.

It should be a fun year for those of us who are hardcore enough to follow CCIW JV action.

Guzman? I'd love to see him try to play point. :D

(Alas, Bosko would have him on the bench so fast his head would spin.)

Well he shot more 3's than Steve:)  Steve also tied him in rebounds/game.
6'5" 250...is needed a bit more in the paint!

Only game I saw him play he walked in a little late.  Bosko left without him.  Needless to say he didn't start that game.

Agreed, but he wasn't handling the ball out on the perimeter. He's strictly a spot-up shooter in terms of offense. Defensively, he's asked to guard big men, particularly the low-post player when Pierce isn't in the game.

His % from the 3 was actually good...but when a big has as many 3 point shot attempts/game as rebounds/game.....that's too much time camping out downtown.  Coaches sometimes wish there was a 3 second rule for post players networking in the cheap seats.

TQ, that is true!  It was late when I was attempting to make a point.  A more appropriate word(s) based on what I was thinking at the time would have been "Effective"and/or "Impactful".  Keeping in mind, he played alongside another guard who could handle the offense and get him the ball.

Lance Robinson wasn't the pg for aurora and he was 5th in the country in assist!  Go figure!
