I think Kobe beat Toronto.  If they were playing any of about 25 other teams, his 81 would not have been enough.  I think he's a fantastic scorer, but you can't do well in the NBA with one guy lighting it up like that.  81 is impressive, but the rest of the team just stood around and watched; not good.

i agree with that statement....but it seems like this is an exception. the more i read about it the more my jaw drops.

he had 26 at halftime. the lakers were down 71-53 3 minutes into the the 3rd quarter....and he had already scored all 4 of the lakers 2nd half points at that point.

he scored 23 points over the next 9 minutes......and 28 in the 4th quarter. just amazing.

another thing......he had 53 at the end of 3 last night. a couple weeks ago against dallas he had 62 at the end of 3.....he didnt play the whole 4th quarter because it was a blowout.

100 anyone?
You win! You always do!

Thunder- I was very surprised to see how many fans came to the Elmhurst game. I wish we could travel that well. It's good to see the Wheaton fans are sticking with their young team that looks to have a lot of potential and will return to the top 4 in the future. It is really good to see Bollier who could have packed it in for his senior season really carry his team and show a lot of leadership. I think it says a lot about a player who shows great patience with his young teammates.

As for the Elmhurst fans not cheering. The game is a little different and the crowd is kind of taken out of it when there is a thirty point lead. As for number of Wheaton fans there to Elmhurst fans I would think it was pretty even. Our student section is still low in numbers because not all of our students are back on campus yet. We are still in Jay term and a number of students opt not to take it. We'll be in full force hopefully for the Augie game as second semester starts next Monday.

Martin's elbow I would say was a clearly an accident. He stole the ball and just ripped it away from the Wheaton player and as he ripped it away he made contact with the Wheaton player. It wasn't like he came down for a rebound and turned and cleared out and knocked someone in the head. I was glad to see no one got chippy because it was an accident and I think most everyone realized that.

Gosh, I felt your comment about Brenegan was the most accurate statement in your post. :o

Not that it matters a single bit, but what does everyone think the rankins will be tomorrow morning.  Im just curious because that game down in Bloomington is going to be awesome Wed.  It would be nice to have two top ten teams going at it...especially on the web cast.  Shoot nothing beats going to the Shirk Center...but i might be able to pull up a cozy chair and a cooler in front of my computer screen and and enjoy the game thouroughly.

My apologies...IWU and AUGIE are both top 10...a game in the CCIW between two top 5 teams would be even better!

I doubt there's much chance of both top 5, but Albion, Puget Sound, and York all had a loss, so 5 vs 6 might be possible.  I'd guess 6 vs 8 is more likely - still pretty impressive!

Both teams in my book are top 5 right now, but it will be hard for Augie to get in with the way things have gone.  If people would have heeded my warnings about UPS, there might have been a better chance.  The only way I see it now is if people discount Hope because of Albion's loss, which just seems unfair.  It's tough to tell, but my gut says 5-7 for IWU and Augie in the next poll.

Unfortunately, Elmhurst has too many fair weather fans.. in both basketball and football!  >:(
I look at the 2001 CCIW Knuppel Team when I was the mascot  ;D  It wasn't until I would say early February when  we were able to get decent crowds assembled at RA F Hall ( I hate that name!)
Due in part because many consider Elmhurst a commuter school ( I think 57% commute)  it is tough to draw a good crowd to the game.
Football wise, I won't even go there.  Homecoming Weekend, 1/3 of the starting game's attendance is remaining  when the final whistle blows.  ???
Q names for a baby girl  and congrats to whomever is going to be a new papa.  I know some girls named Quincy, Queisha, Queen, Quemalla, Quinella.  Q is a tough letter!

How 'bout Quamardella or Quasten......or siQma?

Titan Q

There are some very suspect female first names being thrown out right now!  I'm guessing Titan Hammer's little girl on the way will end up with a non-Q first name based on these options!

I'm sure we will discuss the upcoming Augustana game quite a bit.

In the new top 25 poll, IWU moves back up to #5, Augie checks in at #7, North Central is #11, and Elmhurst is just off the bottom of the poll (tied for would-be #26).  For both Augie and North Central, this poll represents the all-time high-water mark (by "all-time," I mean since this poll began in the 1999-00 season.)  Augie reached #7 once before, early in the 2003-04 season; NC's previous high was #12, just two weeks ago.

Since most of us expect Augie to be swept on the road this week, the Elnhurst-NCC game seems to be the pivotal one this week, as one of those teams will end the week with at least 3 losses, while, if the board experts are right, Augie, IWU and either NCC or Elmhurst will all have 2 losses. Having to catch 3 teams after the midway point could be a challenge for the loser.

Of course, Augie can make it a little harder for everyone else by winning one of their road games. A win at IWU is highly improbable. However, a Sunday afternoon game makes things a little more unpredictable for the Augie-Elmhurst matchup.

The race for the title could move in several different directions this week.  Time to get in position for the stretch run.

I appreciate all of the name suggestions and will pass them on to the boss.

4) The oft-mentioned "Titan Hammer" was 6th in the league in rebounding avg. with 7.4. So why no all-league honors (not even the 3rd team) for Mike Thomas in 90/91? I suspect a conspiracy and Q probably has the prime conspirator suspect being the WCTU (were they still around in 1991?).
Lanny, for the sake of you staying credible on this board, I hope the others know you aren't serious.  Besides, if anyone has read Coach Bridges' book, they know my role wasn't to try for MOP...it was MOPP - MOP Protector.
