Chuck, to predict an 18-point IWU victory tonight over this Augie team, with the way they're playing, you've really outdone yourself.  This tops the 14-0 in the CCIW prediction.  Playing the game on paper in the Mr. Ypsi world must really be a heck of a lot easier than these games are in real life.

Augie by 6...comes down to Augie getting fouled tonight late in the game and they hold off the Titans to stay perfect in the CCIW race...i think they are a run away train right now that doesn't question their talent like everyone else has been doing...they go to the Shirk tonight and take care of business on the road.

I say Augie by 6

18 points?  hmm, I don't think it will be that large of a victory, but I do think Augie is the stronger team right now.  IWU will have the 6th man in the fans.  I am going to say Augie by 4  82-78.
Elmhurst @ NC  now here's a toughy to predict.  Which Elmhurst Team is going to show up?  Hopefully the one which knocked off Hanover and nearly knocked off UWP.  If the Jays bring the game they had vs. Carthage, I think NC blows them out.  I say EC 68  NC 61  and possibly an OT to boot.  Should be a great game and I'm looking forward to it.

Ypsi,
Just because IWU "destroyed" Augie in the early going of a couple games does not mean that Augie was blown out.  Yes, they may have been blown out in the first half, but if memory serves me correctly Augie always made a push in the second half to make the game reasonably close.

augie22...I hope your right Augie by 6.Wish I could be there to witness in person....I think my son is going though. It doesn't get much better than this at the Shirk tonight. GO AUGIE !!!

Since the game is at The Shirk and the Titans are overdue to have a great game,  IWU is a huge favorite. I can see a 10 point victory for the Titans, particularly if there are a lot of Augie fouls at the game's end in a catch up effort, which tend to make final margins deceptive.

Hopefully, Augie will continue to play tough defense and will be able to keep it close. The addition of the Swatallas in the front line this year eliminates some of the size advantage IWU has had in the past couple of years. An IWU blow out is more likely than an Augie win in Bloomington, but an 18 point plus victory would be surprising. Even if it happens all Augie has to do is hold serve at Carver in the return match, as they did last year.

Actually as the Lou Holtz of Augie sports, I doubt that Augie belongs on the same court with the unbeatable Titans. The Titans are the best team Augie has played all year without question. Well at least since we played NCC.

Yeah, that's why I couldn't figure out which game I was thinking of - none of the final scores appeared to reflect such a dominating start.

I'm pretty sure it was the RI game two years ago that had stuck in my mind - Augie had such a talented senior class that that start just came SO out of the blue!

My prediction for tonight comes partly from the incredible depth IWU has up front, but is mainly just a gut hunch - quite frankly, I will be at least somewhat surprised if the Titans DO pull out such a big win.

OK, I guess I am slow today, but where is the link to tonight's webcast for IWU vs. Augie?  It's supposed to be on the front page of d3hoops.com correct?

CardinalAlum-- hehe, it should be a fun one in Naperville.  You didn't put down a score.  Lately, ever game ( in most sports) between EC/NC has been down to the wire and great games.  The last 2 of 3 football games and as somebody pointed out earlier, close games in basketball.
The Cards have home court advantage which in the  CCIW is a major advantage.

Great, thanks audiedad.  I thought it was being broadcast from d3hoops, not cciw.  BTW good luck tonight.  You guys make me real nervous about picking up a near unheard of 2nd CCIW home loss for IWU.

On a different note, Q you mentioned Harrigan starting tonight for the Titans.  Is this a permanent change or something temporary for tonight's game?  Scott Trost doesn't strike me as a coach who would give out a "charity" or "sentimental" start to a player, but Lord knows I've been wrong before.

IWU DC

i think Q was just trying to promote his alma mater (Brother Rice HS) by touting a matchup of two former Crusader guards.  As a Marist grad, I would prefer to just have the one Crusader playing for Augie so I don't have to root for a Br Rice product on IWU to stop him.
