Warm congrats to Stevie D on Josten.  Nice to see that and to have a CCIW player win this top award.

During the height of the CCIW season, this board can go through 5 pages A DAY!  Even I don't feel like scrolling back everytime I check this board! LOL.  ;D :D ;) :)

Ourhouse apparently missed it.  ???  ;D. Come on now, group hug.

Tom, check his karma-to-post ratio.  There is a reason he is sometimes responded to as 'outhouse'. ;)

Congratulations to Steve Djurickovic on willing the Joston award. To say that Carthage is going to miss him next year is a massive understatement.

I can't wait for the game tonight between Augie and UMHB; it's going to be fun. Below is the link to the live video stream. You can also listen to the game via live audio and keep track with the live stats. Those links are all posted below.

Looks like Augie on its way to an Elite Eight appearance.  Good luck to the Doggies.  Make CCIW proud.

70-57 Augie wins. Good run by the Cru. They will be a force for the next couple of years. Augie is on to the Elite 8. I hope they can win against St. Thomas and move on to Salem.

Congrats to Augie on ELITE EIGHT.  Great job.

Tough test tomorrow . . . Tommies are a good, tough team, similar to Augie.

(I have the Tommies over Augie tomorrow, even on the Doggies home court!).

IWU Women also make ELITE EIGHT -- with a 77-74 win over Coe.  Now face George Fox and their 6'5" center, for a place in the Final Four, hopefully for our Titans, a "home Final Four!"  Keep it rolling Titans . . . and good luck tomorrow night vs. GF.  Bring it back to The Shirk!

I appreciate the support for Augie from the IWU regulars. DIII BB is all about the players not the coaches. Of course, armywife has to go with her daughter's school on Friday night, but after Augie beats MBH we'll need her full support on Saturday night.

I too have UW Stevens Point going all the way in the bracket challenge, but that's one contest I would love to lose come Saturday night. But first things first. Gotta win on Friday first.

With armywife's nephew's team ousting her daughter's team, and with my title pick (UWSP) being ousted by the Tommies, you now have two additional posters WHOLEHEARTEDLY on the Augie bandwagon. ;D

I sometimes subscribe to the philosophy of 'root for the team that beat you', but now it is BOTH teams, so GO AUGIE!  Since there is the added bonus that we have one win over Augie (but none over the Tommies), it would be even sweeter if you went to Salem.  I'll root against the Tommies with the same fervor as a dedicated Johnnie! :o ;D

Augustana was the superior team tonight.  When they went up 58-38 with about 10 minutes to play, they seemed to think they won by mercy rule.  Kudos to UMHB for not backing down.  They brought it back to 10 with about 5 minutes.  The refs did a fine job, but to this objective observer, it felt like they were trying to keep the game close.  for about a five minute stretch it seemed like every time UMHB went inside, they ended up at the foul line; and every time Augie went inside, they were hammered with no call.

But Augie turned up the defense when it got somewhat close again, and UMHB seemed to wear out down the stretch.  At one point during a free throw at the critical time of the game, the UMHB players all had their hands on hips/heads/on their shorts, and the Augie five looked fresh and ready to pounce.

I won't be at the game tomorrow, but there is nothing like hosting a sectional final.  I hope the Auggie fans enjoy it.  (By the way, I was okay with cheering for Augie, but I had to wear green, and could not bring myself to cheer "Go Vikings" or anything like that).

Outhouse,

Why would you call someone a loser because he won't root for a Coach G coached team.  No doubt he is a good recruiter....may question his ethics to his recruiting and his child like tantrums but no one questions his ability to recruit.

What a great game to witness at the Carver Center tonight.  The crowd was fantastic, one of the best atmospheres I've witnessed for an Augie game.  I think UMHB had only about 15-20 fans so it was an obvious home court advantage.

Voiles had a great night shooting and was really active on the boards.  Brian DeSimone had a wonderful game running the point.  He was so steady and made some great passes.  It was nice to see Chris Anderson have a nice game.  His shooting wasn't the best but he was really aggressive taking it to the hoop and then knocked down all 8 free throw attempts.  Kam Norton had a great game on the defensive end and made it tough on a lot of the UMHB players when they got inside.

Kyle Nelson seemed to have a very frustrating game.  Augie was the much bigger team as usual but UMHB was very quick and scrappy.  The bigs had some trouble tonight when they got the ball down low.  The refs let the game get a bit physical down low but nothing out of control.  It just seemed like the guys were getting bumped when shooting but it was evenly called both ways in my opinion.

I think the big difference was Augie's length.  UMHB shot fade away jumpers all night.  They hit a few but  I don't know if I've seen that many airballs or shots barely graze the rim than I did from UMHB tonight.

All around, just a great job of getting it done tonight for Augie.  They better bring a bit better game tomorrow night against St. Thomas however.  Should be a great game tomorrow....Go Augie!

iwu70

Yup, I think the Tommies are a serious challenge for Augie.  Should be a great game.  Hope Augie has the big home crowd again and can take advantage of a home Sectional.

Did St. Thomas win its conference outright?  If the MIAC has conference tourney, did the Tommies win it?

Good luck to Augustana tonight.  It'd be great to see a CCIW team get to Salem.  Two great defensive teams and fairly even teams overall, but the game being played at Carver gives the Vikings a big edge in my opinion.

As I told someone one year ago today, as IWU was preparing to face UW-Stevens Point, there is huge difference between winning and losing the Elite 8 game.  Getting to Salem is just really, really special.

Best of luck, Vikings fans.
