Well all the farmland that his dad owns and grows corn on is worth quite a bit...Almost planting season in Manito!

Speaking of all state players and future possible recruits for the CCIW, Michael Berg will be a name that will be discussed a lot on the board in the next year. He is a 6'6 junior forward from right here at Midwest Central, where I happen to coach. He averaged 18 ppg, 10 rpg, and 5.7 blocks per game.

He will definitely be a name that everyone in the CCIW will be talking about during the next season. A couple of CCIW schools are already on him pretty good, and he already has interest from about 30 other D3 schools and a handful of Division 1 schools. Just an early heads up.

So just how much of the corn in Manito is he worth?

Our new CCIW Chat Value Index:

all the corn in Manito = all the lentil soup in Skokie x 100

I won't confirm or deny those names, but I will say that the number of applications is somewhere in the vicinity of 150 at last count.

Regarding the coaching rumor mill list...yawn.

I'm rooting for Raridon or Bosko.

Whatever the decision is, I sure hope Chris Edquist gets a shot to stick around at North Park.  Guy deserves a few years to build his resume, at the very least.

I'm 100% with you on that one, but Chris is pretty realistic about the situation. He knows that it's the new coach's prerogative whether to keep him or to bring in his own guy to sit in the second chair. If he has to go, I don't think that there will be any hard feelings on his part.

I've seen Michael Orris' name on several all-state honorable mention lists.  He will be a senior next year at Crete=Monee, where he transferred to from Palatine.

I know the family well - both parents are Covenant pastors and were members of our church where is father started our contemporary service.

I've told his father that if Michael goes to Wheaton (his father's alma mater) that we will have words.  He said Michael has had feelers from several DI programs.

I saw him as a sophomore at Palatine - he would have started for North Park then.
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Orris has had pretty heavy interest from Illinois, but they have yet to offer. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up there now that they have had another scholarship open up due to the Richmond situation.
You win! You always do!

And here is what I have recently heard about the finalists for the Millikin job...

* Matt Nadlehoffer (Head Coach, Eastern U.)
* Tom Slyder (Head Coach, Anderson U.)
* Ryan Rebson (Head Coach, Rockford College)

Interesting that Matt Nadlehoffer is rumored to be in the mix at both NPU and Millikin.  Odds are good that my favorite non-IWU CCIW player ever is going to be in the league.

Keep in mind, Millikin A.D. Joe Hakes hired Nadlehoffer at Eastern.

I saw a piece on the City/Suburbs Hoops report at the end of last week that had this... and also had a number of other D-III commitments, but it didn't have CCIW teams mentioned, so I didn't bring it up at the time.  But it does mention Wash U, Roosevelt, St. Francis, and Lewis, among others:

http://blogs.suntimes.com/hoopsreport/2011/04/palucki_a_division_iii_steal.html

I'm not sure if CCIW teams were on any of these guys, but it's certainly possible.

Drop me a note, or post, if you know of any I'm missing.
