Looks like Chicago 6-7 recruit Ian Joyce (Middleton, WI) has a future in the soap opera industry with this publicity shot...

Another commitment for Augie:

Danielius Jurgutis, 6-0, 185, Darien, IL (Downers Grove South HS)

*2011 Suburban Life South DuPage County All-Area
*2011 Daily Herald DuPage County Honorable mention All-Area

Starting point guard for 25-4 DGS...Averaged about 10 ppg, better than 2-to-1 assists to turnovers.

Goes by Dan
Transferred to DGS this year from St. Joseph where he played his first 3 yrs. This was partially due to his friendship with DGS center Ziggy Riauka who I believe is a D2 Wis- Parkside signee.
Saw him play 4-5 times this year.
Played in a 3 guard, 1 forward, center offense.
Strong point is his consistency. Not flashy, but gets job done. Good hands and hand/eye coordination.
Main liability at this time is his defense. He isn't real quick and has some trouble sticking with quicker guards. May be 175 lbs, but no way is he as much as 185.
Many of his baskets came at important times of a game.
Great assist/TO ratio, but this is a little misleading as he played on a team of great shooters/finishers including a D2 signee and 2 junior guards, both of which will prob be D1 players.
Likely JV player this year and maybe next, but definitely has a chance to make a nice contribution in the future.

A good enough report for me to contribute to your re-emergence from the pits of Karmic Sheol.  +k

Huge commitment for Carthage - 6-9 F/C Luke Johnson from Wheaton Academy (16.5 ppg, 10.0 rpg).

http://www.kcchronicle.com/2011/05/02/preps-247-wheaton-academys-johnson-commits-to-carthage/bx0nwkt/

His ESPN recruiting page says "considering Evansville Aces, Wichita State Shockers, Loyola (IL) Ramblers, UNLV Rebels, Northern Illinois Huskies."

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/115708/luke-johnson

Now the next step is deciding where to go to continue his basketball career, as an ankle injury during the summer hurt Johnson's recruiting process. He is still hoping to receive a Division I offer in the near future, though heading to a prep school for a year to build up his value is not out of the question.

"I'm still deciding," added Johnson, who started playing basketball at the age of four. "During the summer, I had been talking to schools like NC State, Richmond, Evansville and Loyola among others. I sprained my ankle in July during the recruiting period and I missed a lot of time where colleges would have been able to look at me. And now a few of those schools have already given away their scholarships.

"I'm still working back from it (the ankle injury). And I'm looking at prep schools as well where maybe I could get back from this injury and get back to where I was."

Muskeyvalley is lightening in a bottle. So quick you'd think someone stuck a rocket up his butt and pressed "ignite."

• Several Division I schools – including Nebraska, North Carolina State and Missouri – approached Johnson about a hoops career once he started at prep school or junior college. After much deliberation, he favored the path that brought the most meaningful games over time.

To the 6-9 Johnson, choosing D-III Carthage in Kenosha, Wis., means at least a tiny thorn in his pride, but he still has big plans in basketball.

"Going to a Division III school when you always wanted to go Division I, you don't want to call it a step down, but it is," Johnson said. "I've really got to make sure that I work hard, because achieving my goal to play professional basketball is not going to be easy, but it's something I still want to accomplish."

Averages of 16.5 points, 10 rebounds and 4.7 blocks didn't garner as much higher-level recruiting attention as Johnson, a center, would have liked during the Warriors' 27-2 season. Several suitors from D-II, D-III and NAIA schools came calling, though Johnson found those levels of ball to be "just about the same."

He remembers thinking he wouldn't go to Carthage during his drive up to visit in April, but meeting would-be teammates while walking on the lakeside campus helped change Johnson's mind.

Is there any publication that ranks D3 teams recruiting classes?  If something like that doesn't exist, will the CCIW website list each conference school's recruiting class?

To the first question: None that I know of, and I would probably question the credibility of anyone who thought they could. To the second question: Almost assuredly no. I never recall the CCIW doing that. Some of the schools in the CCIW will announce their classes at some point (some don't though). Otherwise, these pages are probably the best single source for that info.

Thanks.  That is what I figured on both accounts, but thought I would double check.  New to D3 basketball, but looking forward in starting to follow it now that my nephew will be playing in it.  Went to first D3 game last year; and my 12 year old son and I loved it.  Had a chance to play in it coming out of high school in late 80's but didn't.....wish I had.

I had a chance to stop by the NPU basketball office today and met Coach Howard and his wife. As many of you know, there's an enormous amount of work involved in moving to a new city, starting a new job, finding a place to live, etc., but the impression I have is that he's hit the ground running in terms of connecting with the current players and jumping into the recruiting process.
