This story about ponzi scheme is interesting and casts some questions about anyone's relationship with this guy.  Very sad for all involved.

Just wanted to clarify a few rumors going around on this web page, the only reason I played for North Park is because they needed a player and I know what its like to drive all the way to deerfield and not get a game in. I'm trying to get as much basketball in as I can before we start our season over at CARTHAGE. I would have never played with NP if it was going to cause some confusion. With that being said I'm excited about my next 2 years at Carthage.. I have the best coaching staff and would never want to play for anyone esle. Bosko, Roehl,McDaniel,Mr.Wilson, Ashley, Perrine.

Thanks, Kelly 13'

Thanks for clearing that up.
From a personal standpoint, IF you were going to transfer, I wish you would transfer out of the CCIW so we wouldn't have to face you twice a year. You are a heck of a good player, and I know you will cause a lot of damage to your opponents over the next 2 seasons at Carthage. Best wishes for a healthy and productive season.

According to FoxSports, when Geovanine was an asst coach at Rice, he befriended the Houston resident accused of swindling coaches' money.  So Coach G put his eggs in that basket well before his arrival at Augie.

Have heard that IWU soph to be, Andrew Ziemnik, sustained some sort of injury involving his meniscus. The current treatment plan involves rest and PT strengthening with the hope of being able to avoid any form of surgery. From the information available at this time, it appears Andrew will be very able to go at full strength when the season begins.

Augie to open the season with an exhibition contest at Valparaiso:

Nice.
I'm sure the 2010-2011 CCIW Coach of the Year, Grey Giovanine, and the CCIW champion Vikings will give a very good accounting of themselves and represent the CCIW and D3 well against the D1 "big boys" from Valpo.

Augie's size should really help them in this match-up... most of these exhibitions (at least the ones that are relatively close) are even until a certain point... and then the height, strength, and skill of the D-I teams takes over and they put the game away.

Because Augie is as big a team as they are, they may be able to neutralize this... and especially with the type of defense they play, they might give Valpo fits at times.

I'm eager to see how this one shapes up!

Don't forget the Crusaders will be seeking revenge for the Augie win back in '76 (haha)

My ex-brother-in-law was a senior on that team. :) They also beat Western Illinois and Northern Iowa the two games before that.

For the record WIU and UNI were D2 schools at the time.  Should be noted it was UNI's first ever loss in their dome.  But it was a good time to be a Viking.

The 2011-2012 North Central schedule:

Following the season opening Marriott Tip-Off Tourney, the Cardinals continue the non conference portion of the season by making the 20 minute trip west to annual foe Aurora prior to hosting Illinois College. After the IC game, NCC faces 3 fairly long road trips in a row (nice scheduling  ::)  ) to Albion (MI), Simpson (IA), and Platteville (WI). They then return home for the annual Battle Of Maple Ave. game against eastern neighbor Benedictine. Then its off to the Daytona Beach, FL Shootout 12/19-21 where they will face Scranton and Nichols. The non conference portion of the season concludes with a home game on 12/30 against last season's #18 team, Manchester (IN). The Cards open the CCIW season at home against the W representative on 1/4/12.

I posted this on the soccer page, but that board is nearly dead, so please pardon this incursion.  The Wheaton men's soccer team will be scrimmaging at Northwestern in Evaston this Friday at 7:00 p.m.  As far as I know this is the earliest CCIW competition of the new school year, and competing against a BIG Ten school is kind of a big deal, regardless of the sport.

Northwestern's stadium is right on Lake Michigan with a nice view of the city, so come on out...  I'm not sure, but I don't think there's a charge.

Wheaton returns all but one starter from a team that went 7-0 in CCIW play last year, prior to getting bounced by North Park in the conference final.  Hopefully this will be a game.

Also, there is a nice blog on the Wheaton web site about the team's trip to Kenya which is wrapping up tomorrow (home on Wednesday).
