TitanQ-- I agree, and often I don't agree with Scherrer, but in this case I do.  All 4 of those teams will most likely be ranked in the Top 25 this week and all could/should go deep in the playoffs, if granted that opportunity.  Half the season to go and a Tournament, wow I can't wait!

I think even if the CCIW somehow manages to get three teams in, it will still not be enough.  Of course, as soon as I say this, one of them is going to take a huge dive and totally negate this, but right now, it's very true.  Even if they all get thrown into the same side of the bracket like always, they deserve to be there.

I think everyone knew my offer to Diehard was tongue in cheek, as her unwavering loyalty to the Thunder is well known. Nevertheless, we would love to see her in Blue and Gold for the tourney.

I agree that 4 CCIW teams deserve to make the tourney, but it will likely three max and probably only two. I remember the Drew Carstens teams that were so good but not quite good enough to get into the tourney. I realize there are more teams in the tourney now, but one and probably two deserving teams will probably be left at home come tourney time.

NCC, IWU, EC and Augie all have a good shot at making the NCAA tournament.  All they have to do is win.  If a team doesn't make the tournament, they will have no one to blame but themselves for missed free throws, costly turnovers, poor defense, etc.  I'm sure fans of the team that is left at home will have plenty to complain about to the comittee, but the fact remains: Win basketball games, and you will be playing in March.

The facts are just so boring when compared to the whining.

I think it's safe to say that four CCIW teams in the postseason is a long shot.  Three teams might be very difficult as well, but could happen.  The CCIW is going to keep beating up on each other and the CCIW tourney is going to hand out additional losses in the region as well.  Even though these teams have nice D3hoops.com rankings, that doesn't automatically put them in the playoffs.

As always, this is what makes the CCIW such a great conference.  You never know what can happen until the final game is played.

Elmhurst not among the leaders in SOSI at this point.  They will need some big wins to get into contention... or a string of three at the end of the season.

Just two, it's a four-team tournament.

Unless they need one in the regular-season finale in order to qualify.

HF,

Don't forget that Pat's computations were through games of last Thursday.  Since the Elmhurst has beaten Wheaton (probably a 12-point win by season's end) and NCC (a best-there-is 15 point win).  Don't know what their QOWI was last Thursday,  but it is higher today!

I think Pat's got them updated through 1/26 on the "Quality of Wins" board. Incidentally, I figured Auggie ;) at 11.933. I could have done something wrong, but I think all their opponents' records were up to date.

You just beat me to it!  I realized after I posted that I had looked at Pat's first tabulation, not the up-dated one.  Elmhurst is NOW on the list at 78th.

Pat - I think the previous posters may have been assuming Elmhurst does not win the CCIW Tournament (which would give Elmhurst the CCIW AQ).  It appears he is looking at this from a viewpoint of a non-AQ bid.  Elmhurst would need more than 3 wins in that case.  My guess would be no more than one conference loss, a win & a close loss in the CCIW tournament then hope its first at the CCIW chair for non-AQ bid discussion.

Ooooooh, I know what I did. I was using overall opponents records instead of in-region records. Thanks Pat.
