Johnny Augie

Saying that Martin is the best player in the CCIW might not be correct.  There are a handful of guys that could be named the "best".  There are a couple of guys at IWU and a very good shooting guard at Augie.

Should be another good CCIW matchup today at Elmhurst.  Augie wins this one and they are in total control since they would be up three games in the conference.

Mark Simon has an interesting story about Carthage's Malik Imani on this site's front page today.

Wow, what a turnaround story.  It is interesting when we find out about these athletes who come to school later in life or as the schools sometimes refer to them as "non-traditional students."  This is clearly as close to non-traditional as it can get.  I am very happy to see that this young man has turned his life around and is finding happiness and positive purpose.  Congratulations to Malik.

One supplemental question that I have and it really because of my ignorance of eligiblity.  Is there any sort of age limits for athletes that participate in NCAA sports?

sac

no age limit, I think the 5 years to complete 4 still applies.  Personally I have 1 year of eligibility left and one more semester I could use.

Franklin and Marshall had a 26 year old on their team in 1996 in Salem.  There was also a story about a 35 year old who played football for someone within the past couple years.  Came back from the military and enrolled in college and played football for someone.

Anyone able to get the Augie/Elmhurst game online?

Great article showcasing North Park on the front page of the Trib sports section today.  The subject is Holmgren and his family's ties to the Covenant and to North Park (obviously driven by the upcoming Super Bowl).

Go Blue

First time poster here at d3hoops and glad to be here. Hopefully I'll be able to give you some insight about the Big Blue for the remainder of the season.Tough loss last night and a rough stretch of games the last few weeks have really hurt the Big Blue.Injuries have plagued Millikin in the last few weeks and are struggling to find an answer.  Before conference play began, Millkin lost Bryon Graven to a knee injury and he has yet to return.  A few weeks ago, Starting forward Mike Gavic went down with a torn ACL.  This has really been a huge blow for Millikin because Gavic had really been playing well both offensively and defensively.

Looking at last night's box score, it looks like Millikin is trying to fit freshman Ray Kissing into the lineup in place of Gavic along with Sophomore Keanon Harrington.  This makes Millikin a farely young team for the rest of the conference season.  Hopefully someone can step up and help sweep the season series with Elmhurst on Wednesday night.  That's about all I have for now.

Finally able to listen to WAUG but it's music, not basketball.

Well, those posters who thought early on that everyone else was playing for second place were right - they just had the wrong team in first! ;D

Up three full games with six to play - barring a collapse of historic dimensions, the regular season crown will be worn (and the conference tourney played) in Rock Island.

3 seems to be the magic number for Augie... that's the third road win by 3 points, and they need to win just three more conference games to win at least a share of the CCIW reg-season conference title.

I posted on the in-game updates, but gotta say my comments here also!  Please understand my bias......

If there are anyone voters out their listening or reading.....if the CCIW doesn't doesn't get three teams, or for that matter four teams in the tourney, they are crazy....what other league beats up mostly on the other leagues just to get to the main bout, the conference, and beats up on each other as we do!!!!!!

Boy do I love this game and this conference.....and we are only halfway through!!!!!!

I think its clear that there is a three-point difference between Augie and Elmhurst  60-57 in Rock Island, and 63-60 at Elmhurst.  As regrettable as I say it, I think it is time that people start making their reservations for the conference tournament in Rock Island, or praying for IWU, NCC and Wheaton (or others) to pick up the divide.... otherwise, get out the tour guide book for the beautiful city of Rock Island!
