74, get used to it.  Old Titan fans can be pretty spicey, let me assure you.  They haven't lost their fiesty speech just because they have walkers and slower gate.

Q, thanks for all the info, rankings on the regional situation.  Very useful.

Obviously, sorry to see the outcome @ WC, though I also thought the men might go down at King.  Tough place to win, esp. as WC is playing better now and had a huge home crowd.  Was more sorry to see the women go down, as was hoping for them to put further distance from the top contenders on the women's side.  Now we have more of a race again.  Tough to lose on that charge call, as Brittany had the layup and it sure didn't look like a charge from the streaming video picture and angle.

Anyway, huge game vs. Augie now for the men.  Hard to imagine them beating the "Big Blue" by 70.  All top contenders -- both men and women -- playing better now, making it tough for these big game showdowns.  IWU will need to free up Zimmer better and, as Q pointed out, get more contributions from some of the bigs in IWU's deep rotation.  They really didn't contribute too too much vs. WC, though WC played excellent defense and had a good plan to play the game at the pace and speed that favored their style of play.  McCrary close to a lock now on the MOP for the season.  Hope IWU can get Kman back, as he does provide a good boost and better speed and range of shooting when playing well on the wing, when fully healthy.  Molinari is not back to game speed and fitness just yet, it would appear.  He and Musselman did have their "freshmen moments," some sloppy play at WC.  Ziemnik and Reed very solid in the WC loss.

Need to steal one at Augie on Tuesday.

According to AndOne's posting rules, this has no business being put on the Men's CCIW chat.

A score of 12-6?

How does that even happen?

If I grabbed 4 senior citizen Titan fans and I played center, I feel we would score 6 against any team in the CCIW. (we would also argue every call whistled against us)

It might be only 6, but come on.... what is the background on that game?

no shot clock - carroll held the ball - score was 4-2 augie at half.  carroll played zone and with the lead augie would not challenge zone.

augie was ranked #2 in the naia at the time with 7-0 john laing and 6-11 bruce hamming.  last cciw team to run the table in league play - 39 years ago.

Thanks, 74, for letting me know.  I'm delighted to tell you that CCIW men's chat is not an "AndOne nanny state."

Still hard for me to imagine that the Millikin team I saw not so long ago here at The Shirk could only put up 28 vs. Augie.

Looks like AC is really getting it back together, getting well into the post-Scarlata era.  Titans will have to truly step it up and get more consistent play, good contributions out of the entire rotation.

Let's me add on the NC-Carthage game:

1) AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
2) Malcom Kelly has a ton of heart.  I love watching him play.
3) Donte Logan can be a plus player, but he's not quite there yet.  He works his butt off on D.
4) Gillespie held up to the full court press very well.  His numbers don't show it, but I think he was the key to NC's win.
5) The refs almost lost control of this game early in the 2nd half and started calling fouls like crazy to get it under control.  I wasn't particularly impressed with one of the crew, but let's not go there.  It didn't affect the outcome of the game.
6) Carthage missed two front ends of a one-and-one in the 2nd half.
7) And then they turned over the ball with a 2 point lead on an inbound pass with 22 seconds left.  AAAAAGGGHHHH!
8) Landon Gamble and CJ Goldthree had really good games as well (though Gamble was good on both ends of the court; Goldthree more on D).
9) Good 9 minutes out of Claybrook for Carthage off the bench.

Again, Carthage should have won.  They have blown three games of this type this year.  That's the difference between a solid rebuilding year and a mediocre one.  Oh well, it was fun for the most part.

Bopol, this boxscore says Goldthree had 17pts.  He must have had one helluva defensive game!   ;)

Congrats to Landon Gamble on being named CCIW POW!  McCrary's MOP award ceremony may have to be postponed until further notice!  ;)

A 3-year Titan varsity player (after transferring in from D1 Tennessee Tech) and it took noon ball for "Titan Hammer" to get some pub in the Pantagraph.

I hope Olivia didn't go for the fake-the-pass-over-the-opponents-head/wait-till-opponent-looks-backwards/drive-by-for-layup move.  It's always been bush league.

Lett refined that game over the summer playing "noon ball" with a group of former Titan men's players that included Bryan Crabtree, Mike Thomas and Mark Aubry.

Finally, just my annual reminder that the CCIW conference tournament, most likely, will hurt the resumes of the CCIW's Pool C candidates - two teams are going to go 0-1, and another 1-1.  The UAA's Pool C candidates won't hurt their in-region records via a conference tournament.  I know the CCIW conference tournament is fun, but is it really good for the league?

Excellent post!  I was excited when the CCIW added a conference tourney in 2006.  I thought it was a great move.  I was wrong.  I think it hurts more than it helps as 'Q' explained in his post.  The only way I think it helps is if a struggling team gets hot and sneaks into the CCIW tourney and then wins it.  That gets them into the D3 dance.  That gives coaches and players something to shoot for in the rough days of late January and early February.  It just seems like that doesn't happen.  It seems like the top seed wins the conference tourney around 50% of the time which really does the CCIW no good.  It actually hurts.

Naperick

I'm an Elmhurst fan and I still think the conference tourney cost them a bid to the D3 tourney in 2007.  That 1-1 record on the final weekend hurt their 'in region' record enough to keep them out.  I think the 'Jays were 22-5 that year overall.  I don't remember their 'in region' record.
