Gotta check to see if you're still listening, Bob. ;)

I've decided that absolutely everybody from the "Bosko tree" says "Wezzzleyan."  Bosko does...Greg Sager does...Tim Bernerno does...Carthage broadcaster John Weiser does.  I've traced it all back to Coach Djurickovic.

He probably got it from the Chief. Next time I see Dave McCarrell at a game, I'll ask him to pronounce it. If he says "Wezzzleyan", I'll definitely know that it's his brother's doing.

This should probably go on the CCIW in-game updates boards, but I've gotta mention it here: In the ten-guys-in-hip-waders game currently being played in Naperville, the high-scoring quintet of Brian DeSimone, Bryant Voiles, Kevin Gillespie, Landon Gamble, and Derek Raridon has a grand total of eight points combined after 34 minutes of play.

Bob, you've got Wheaton beating Elmhurst in a game that's still in progress ... and still very close.

What an absolutely bizarre basketball game that was.

Sorry - Ypsi had Wheaton/Elmhurst as a final on the Updates board.

Sorry - Ypsi had Wheaton/Elmhurst as a final on the Updates board.

As I have since posted on the updates board, it was all Greg's fault! 8-)

He was talking about the low point totals of normally high scorers at the 34 minute mark, so I took the halftime score as a final! :-[  (And OOPS again - I now realize he was talking about the Augie/NCC game.  I guess Greg is off the hook and I'll take my forty lashes with a wet noodle.)

After a 45-45 tie, Wheaton appears to be pulling away late - they're up by 9 w/ about 10 to go.

Lotta time still left in that one ... but EC's gonna have to come back without its PG, D'Ante Foster. He left the game in the first half with a sprained ankle.

Wheaton 77
Elmhurst 65

Garriott took over this game down the stretch.

Terrible clock management by EC in the last couple minutes, when the game was still within reach.

It's important to keep in mind how significant NCC's sweep over Augustana is in terms of the tie-breakers.  Not only does NCC have a 1-game lead on Wheaton and 2-game lead on IWU...the Cards also have that huge sweep in their back pocket now (with IWU splitting with Augie, and Wheaton already with a loss vs Augie).

Mr. Ypsi

Wheaton wins it, 76-65.  Trust me, Greg, I know when a game is over!*

*(Except, of course, when I don't: SI had a blurb about a hs game in Indiana where a team trailed 54-25 in the 4th quarter.  In many states, the game would've been mercied with a running clock, or whatever.  The team finished the game on a 30-0 run, and won by one! ;D)

So, albeit premature, I'll assume Q's standings are correct.

Since my father graduated from Wesleyan in Connecticut... you will never catch me saying that with a "z"... he corrected me the one time I slipped on Hoopsville... he also reluctantly corrected me when I added a little too much "h" in Amherst.
