I don't think there is any question it already has (during the CCIW schedule).

Congrats to IWU for getting in! I guess we don't need to argue about whether we should get rid of the conference tournament anymore, hahaha... (this board seriously needs an angel face)

I don't agree with the logic that NCC shouldn't host due to their gym, and it goes back to the whole argument that Lawrence, in its heyday, shouldn't host because the gym was sooo small. It's super anti in the spirit of D3. Just like it would be unfair if Wheaton got to host because their gym was nicer and they were lower ranked. But I didn't think that either CCIW school would get it based on merit. Now if Wheaton had taken care of Carthage, and hosted the conference tourney, and won, and.... yeah...

BTW, The best part of the whole bracket is that VA Wesleyan is the top seed in Wheaton's Bracket, and that just happens to be 3 hours from my house. Win two games! You can do it!! :D :D :D

Speaking of Lawrence and tiny Alexander Gym, you might want to note that VWC's Batten Center only seats 1,100 fans. That means that, as was the case when Lawrence hosted a sectional, you'd probably have to buy two tickets for the sectional semis if VWC hosted, since a gym that small would probably be forced to hold a split session.

(Apropos of nothing, I love the Batten Center's nickname: The Fish Tank.)
That's fine, I probably couldn't make a Friday game anyway, and besides, I make more money than I used to, and I used to spend a whooooooole lot more money on my d3hoops hobby than I do on any of my current hobbies now, hah. I am mostly just a little scared I will run into whoever my mom met at VWC when she was at a TaeKwonDo seminar who was like.... "OMG YOU'RE DIEHARDFAN's MOM!??!!!!" like I am Justin Bieber.

Not to burst April's hopeful Sweet 16 viewing bubble, but I see that bracket being hosted in the Midwest which would require probably 2 flights and one bus ride......vs 3 plane rides to Va Wesleyan.

Root for Claremont.....if they advance that bracket could require 3 flights, then Va W has something going. :)
Maybe it's just my being away for a while, but to me it seems better in terms of their willingness to move people around. It also seems like VWC is pretty darn clearly the number one seed in that section since there's soooo many people they could have picked for them instead in your bracket, and one extra flight isn't a super big deal. To me it seems more like they set it up so it was "eh, we'd pretty much have to fly everyone anyway..."

I'll be rooting for CMS anyway, since I am still a little bit a SoCal girl at heart. There's NO way they make it through though. I don't even have to watch them this year to know that there's a veeeery small chance the WIAC's best is worse than the SCIAC's best.

Worst case scenario I could always come hang out with you and David. :D

I don't think there is any question it already has (during the CCIW schedule).

"Lo how the mighty have fallen."  Doesn't IWU hold the all-division single-game record, going something like 33-34 from the line?  (A vague memory from a number of years ago, and I can't find such a record listed.)

Gregory Sager

Wesleyan made 35 of 36 from the line in a double-overtime comeback win against North Park back in 2003 at the crackerbox. It's tied for the all-time NCAA record for best FT% for a team that had at least 35 makes in a game, as three D1 teams have also gone 35 for 36 in a game.

I would've been more than happy to let the Titans have any single-game NCAA record they liked if the refs hadn't blown what most certainly should've been a charge on IWU's Eric Starkey in the final seconds of the second OT by instead calling a block on NPU's Javier Sanchez. Jav got to the spot in time to make and eat an entire jibarito before Starkey drove into him. But the refs didn't see it that way, and Starkey made IWU free throws number 34 and 35 to turn what should've been a 97-96 win for the Park into a 98-97 win for the greenies.

OK, thanks.

(Made my pick. You're not gonna like it, Chuck.)

Why not?  I'd love for the Titans to knock your #1 pick out early! ;D

(Actually, despite the IWU/Hope potential matchup, I'm strongly considering Nate Snuggerud at #10 or #11.)

As Schwartz said in A Christmas Story, I triple-dog dare ya!

Excellent out-of-season reference.  +k

I came up with two I preferred to Nate (who is now gone at #19).  Besides, I just HATE it when my tongue sticks to a flagpole. :P

And also old enough to recall fondly your hosting me at the CCIW/MIAA challenge (in 2005?) and showing me around the soccer pitch (which is a helluva lot nicer than many d1 facilities).

NCC lost to St. Norbert's in the first round of the 1984 NCAA D 3 tournament, the next night in the consolation game, NCC won at UW Whitewater vs Illinois Wesleyan, 1985 NCC lost to UW Whitewater in the First Round and Lost in a Consolation game to Monmouth.  In 1989 NCC beat Millikin in the first round before losing in the Regional Final to UW Whitewater. In 1990 NCC lost to Illinois Wesleyan for the right to go to the sweet sixteen.

All of which means nothing from 22-28 years later.   ;)
