Well, despite my call to IWU athletics never reaching the ticket office, and never receiving a promised call back, I finally scored a ticket through Hope (after a plaintive note on the MIAA board).  I WILL be in Holland this weekend - anyone else going to be there?
I'll b in the stands on Friday at  NCC but working on Sat. Have fun:)

Won't you be lonely?  ;)

And freezing if I was outside!!LOL The stands I will besitting in are inside Res/Rec at the beautiful Al B. Carius track. But if you're not doing anything you can always come join me in  watching the Cards rev up for next week-ends nationals. And you can bring Dennis P.(I hear he loves track(hahahahaha) but only more than field. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll be heading around the lake to watch my Flying Dutchmen, but do enjoy track & field - though I rarely watch it any more now that my brother's graduated (he was a D-I pole vaulter in his day).

Head down to Naperville in the spring at one of the last two invites in May. They are both last chance meets so there are guys (and girls) there from every division trying to qualify for nationals. Enjoy your game! And K+ for the previous post.  :D

So I was looking at http://www.facebook.com/questions/339085139466415/ and I noticed that the CCIW Commish and a IWU Alum voted for Tim McCrary over Jordan Zimmer and I had to share.  ;)

Vote for Tim! He's got the least number of votes. :(

After watching much video and looking at stats this is my humble maybe wrong overview of the Gustavus Adolphus basketball team.

Gustavus Adolphus College starting roster

3 Tyler    Grey               SR Wing          6'0"   170   Works with Seth great jumper can shoot the three.

4 Seth    Anderson   SR   Guard   6'2"   165     Jostens candidate deceptively fast, will drive and stop and pop quick jumpers from odd angles and body positions.  Shoots when defender would never think he was going to.

20 Ben    Biewen   JR   Wing   6'2"   180

33 Adam    Michel   SR   Wing   6'4"   185

50 Paul       Blacklock    SR    Post   6''7''    220
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
11 James    Hill   JR   Wing   6'6"   220  Significant bench scorer.

43 Blake    Shay   JR   Wing   6'5"   200  Comes off bench has been #2 scorer in a number of games.  Has taken more 3 pointers than either guard.

Most of the Gustavus scoring comes from the two guards #3 and  #4 as they are usually the top two scorers with the rest of the starters usually scoring in single digits.  Not a huge inside game and opponent can be fooled by the 6'5" Blake Shay coming off the bench and taking many 3's.  So my opinion is they are a very hard team to defend and defense will be the key if Wheaton is going to win.

Ypsi, sorry I missed your message, ticket request.  I was tied up these few days with my Mom's health situation and rehab from a hip replacement op.  Sorry I didn't reply and help you out.  Glad you scored a ticket for DeVos.  Pls. cheer the Titans on this weekend to two upset wins!  Hope our guys play well in that palace of D3hoops.  Wish I could be there.

Best wishes to your mom. :)

As I expressed over on the MIAA board, I figured you just hadn't seen the PM (even if you couldn't help me out, I knew you would have responded accordingly if you had seen the request).

No harm, no foul - the MIAA posters were magnificent in watching out for a fellow Michigander (even if I will be rooting against them on Saturday)!  I'm figuring if Ty Tillema is still out (or clearly less than 100%), IWU is a 60+% favorite (50-50 if he is back fully).  Against Hope I have serious doubts, but figure we have a 'puncher's chance'.  If Jordan can light it up (he's also on my tourney fantasy team), we just might get it done.  Possibly a win-win if Zimmer is on; what I expected going in if not.

IF we pull the upset on Saturday (as expressed above, I wouldn't consider a win on Friday to be an upset ;)), it will be a real test of the Hope posters, many of whom I expect to join at the New Holland Brewing Company after the game.  If they buy me rounds, they are truly saintly; if they grumble and shun me, they are human fans after all! 8-)

NYU and St. Mary's (MD) win their first round games, putting out Bethany and Misericordia.  Winners play bye teams (I think Amherst and VA. Wesleyan, right?) on Saturday night.  Lucky them!

Does anyone know if there will be video streaming or any audio for the first round IWU games -- @ Hope and @ Thomas More -- men's and women's games???

I see only "Live Stats" posted on the IWU schedule pages.

Please let me know.

Chuck, thanks for your kind words for my Mom.  She's recovering but at 93 she just doesn't bounce back, heal so easily or quickly now.  We'll see.  She's done pretty well so far, though still quite frail . . . now about 3 weeks into the rehab.

Yup, hope our Titans get very hot.  I too feel they have a pretty good chance vs. the Pointers, but a tougher climb vs. #1 Hope, of course.  DeVos is quite the place, so enjoy enjoy!  Hope your get some good rounds, some good brew from the Hope fans afterwards no matter -- either in great celebration of the upset or to drown your sorrows as the Titans good, winning season comes to a glorious end.  Perhaps like last year, we'll go out to the eventual champion again.  Who knows.  I'm also pulling for more games for Zimmer and his shot at the all-time IWU career trey shooting/making record.  It's been really fun watching him play this year.

I'm actually pulling for the women, too, even more in a way.  I think they have a favorable bracket, and can really make some noise, hopefully getting to the second and third weekends.  If they make the Hope, Holland Final Four, then I'll really think about coming up your way.

All best . . . enjoy the DeVos games, hope there's a good travelling green turnout, young, old, whining or not!!!

Mr. Ypsi

Mark, the games from Holland will be video-streamed - see the details on the MIAA board.

If the Titan women make it to Holland, I'll be there (barring unforeseen disaster)! ;D

I've seen the magnificent DeVos, but it was when I was there for an IWU @ Hope football game.  Still haven't seen it yet in its bball glory.  I won't go so far as to say it puts the Shirk to shame, but it is EVEN better.
