NYU and St. Mary's (MD) win their first round games, putting out Bethany and Misericordia.  Winners play bye teams (I think Amherst and VA. Wesleyan, right?) on Saturday night.  Lucky them!

Does anyone know if there will be video streaming or any audio for the first round IWU games -- @ Hope and @ Thomas More -- men's and women's games???

I see only "Live Stats" posted on the IWU schedule pages.

Please let me know.

when i was growing up in NYC - Misericordia was a hospital :)
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

When it shows LIVE STATS on the IWU schedule page, click on the DETAILS link (right next to LIVE STATS), which will open up the next level of links, where you will find...WATCH, which will take you to this link...

The same applies to the Women's schedule page. Kinda awkward how they do it, but they just run out of room right there I guess.

Many thanks to all for the relevant video links.  See now they are posted on the IWU site.

GO CCIW!!!  GO TITANS!!!!!!!!  Time to play our best, get hot.

p.s.  looks like snow and tornadoes today for the Titan venues.  :(

p.s.s.  DP, yes, "Misericordia" -- very interesting, strange name for a University?   Was surprised to see Bethany go out first round. Lucky NYU, they get Amherst on Saturday.  ms

Greetings from the land of 10,000 lakes.

From the small world of D3 basketball...Over the noon hour I decided to stop in at my bank in downtown St. Paul, MN to do some banking rather than using the ATM machine.  During the course of a brief conversation with the young bank teller she asked me if I had plans for the weekend.  I told her that I might be watching a basketball game tonight.  She then asked me which teams I planned on watching.  I modestly replied – "oh, it's just small college basketball; Gustavus College is playing Wheaton College from IL in the NCAA D3 tournament in River Falls, WI.

She laughed and replied -  "I'm familiar with Wheaton.  My sister married a former basketball player from Wheaton and he was a co-captain his senior year.  Michael Fiddler. He graduated from Wheaton in 2007."

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. So we chit chat a little bit longer, and she wished me well watching the games tonight.  So I head back to the office and look him up, and sure enough there he was. Michael Fiddler, All–CCIW & Academic All American class of 2007.

Small world! I hope this chance encounter doesn't send bad karma the Gusties' way.
;) :D  Good luck to both teams.  ;)

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

i guess it can be officially noted that st. mary's put its opponent out of its miseri.   ::)

Ron Rose's NCAA tourney record is 4-2, a .667 winning percentage, compared to IWU's overall NCAA record of 42-19, a .689 winning percentage. Don't know which schools have more than 42 NCAA tournament wins. IWU entered its first NCAA tourney in 1984 and was the last CCIW school to abandon the NAIA. Should be an interesting night at DeVoss Fieldhouse. The Westminster coach was relating how his team almost beat Wash. U. in St. Louis in the first game of the 2010 NCAA tourney. Wash. U. was rated #1 and was 2-time defending national champions. I think Wash. U. won by 3 in the final minute. Westminster, which is 497 miles from Holland, had to bus rather than fly.

Unfortunately it sounds like the Titans will probably have to play UW-Stevens Point without leading scorer Jordan Zimmer.  Zimmer suffered a foot injury Wednesday in practice and has been in a boot since.  X-rays were negative for a break, but this is the same foot he injured last year, and had a pin inserted in.  I guess he is in a lot of pain when doing anything a full speed, and just does not have a lot of mobility.

The most positive thing I have heard is that he "was able to jog a little" this morning.  As recently as a couple hours ago, I've heard his status is "doubtful."

Potential lineup tonight for the Titans might be an unconventional 1 guard/4 forward lineup...

G - Eliud Gonzazlez, 5-9 Sr
F - John Koschnitzky, 6-6 Sr
F - Andrew Ziemnik, 6-5 So
F - Victor Davis, 6-5 So
F - Kevin Reed, 6-7 Jr

IWU will have to find a way to get it done without its 1st Team all-CCIW star.

Could have used that inside info before I submitted by bracket challenge entry.....  ;)

What a bad break for the Titans. Hopefully they can edge UWSP and have Zimmer back for the next game or games. Hate it when teams have to play shorthanded due to injuries. I think one of the Pointers' key players is also out with an injury.

Good luck to all 3 CCIW qualifiers in the tourney. Time to prove we deserved 3 bids.

Disappointed to see Augie on the sidelines this year, but they played themselves out of the tourney after a great start to the season. At least Augie's failure to qualify made IWU70, Dennis and many others happy, so good for them. However, when it comes to post season, I think the more CCIW qualifiers the better.

The video from Hope is going to give me a seizure!

wow... anyone else have it really clear and yet really, really shaky?

As long as its not Augie - I agree.  :)

IWU leading Wi-SP by 9 at the half, at DeVos in Holland, MI.

Zimmer is playing, has hit two treys to get to #2 all time, IWU career trey makes, overtaking Kory Coon.

I do not feel the same about your beloved NP Vikings, but then I can afford to be magnanimous, since in the modern era your Vikings have never been a credible candidate for post season play. :P
