Wezzlyn fans complaining about how hot the gym was, slivers from the bleachers, white painted walls, how the place smells (last night it smelled like a AARP meeting). If you don't like NC gym you should stay at home and feed the pigs or sell some insurance.
How quickly you forget the arm pit that was Fred Young Fieldhouse. While attending the Jack (Never Showed Up) Sikma basketball camp a rat ate my lunch.
I did notice how no Wezzlyn fans complained about how poorly the game last night was officiated. Typical.

Pistol, while I feel bad that longtime North Park S.I.D. Dennis Prikkel had climate and odor issues last night, did not like the new paint job in your facility, and apparently has a piece of Gregory Arena stuck in his a$$, let's not pin that stuff on us Wezzlyn fans, huh.

I've been out selling insurance all day.  It's off to feed the pigs.

Do you guys realize that no one has gone undefeated in the CCIW in 32 years! That means no one has ever done it since there's been a Division III. That's a lot of GREAT teams. Sikma's teams didn't do it. None of the great North Park teams did it. Wesleyan's national title winners didn't. Augie's two national runners-up didn't. Augie's great team with John Laing and Bruce Hamming didn't do it...oh, wait, yes they did. :D We're barely past the halfway point, and, while I'd obviously love to see it, I think we're getting way ahead of ourselves with talk of a perfect conference season.

Oh well, since you guys have already probably jinxed 'em, I might as well point out that Augie has a (very outside) chance to be the first school since 1958-59 (Wheaton) to go undefeated and untied in both football and basketball in the same year.

I shouldn't have even mentioned it, it's probably the  :-* of death.

I'm just playing around with this site for the first time, sorry I didn't recognize who Dennis was...   :P

That one made me chuckle... not because you said it, but because it's true!

Then you know how hot it can be in June. Sent my boys to a shooting camp in June, must have been over 100 at 10:AM. But I love the old place...

Don't get me wrong. I have absolutely no problem with IWU bringing home the Maple and Bronze this year.

I would imagine that Wesleyan fans might not be all that thrilled about their team receiving the Maple and Bronze, Roop, since the NCAA championship trophy is informally known as the Walnut and Bronze.

Does the NCAA hand out the Maple and Bronze to the team that has the most postgraduate potential to sell insurance or raise hogs?  ;D

I should have just checked the Carthage site first...

Bowens and Shemerdiak Return This Week:   Carthage guards Trey Bowens (So., Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove-South) and Bill Shemerdiak (Fr., Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg), both declared academically ineligible on Jan. 1, are eligible to play starting Feb. 1.  Bowens, who started the first 10 games of the season, was leading the Redmen in scoring with a 16.1 per-game average, will dress for the Feb. 4 Augustana (Ill.) game and is expected to play.  Shemerdiak, who appeared in eight games and averaged 1.4 points per game, dressed for the Feb. 1 Wheaton (Ill.) contest but did not see action.  Center Mike Hart (Jr., Bolingbrook, Ill.) withdrew from school for personal reasons in December.  Hart, who played in the first 10 games of the season and made nine starts, was averaging 7.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.[/i]

The downside to playing for a school that has a J-term is that it can cost you a lot of student fan support in January. The upside is that it gives your team's academic underachievers a grace period.

The Roop

Maple and Bronze. Walnut and Bronze. Either way it's a lame trophy because all it really is is a plaque with a base so it can stand on it's own. Championship Trophies need a Gold Ball and must be at least four feet high. My excitement of visiting "The Park" in 1979 was soon dashed when I saw the trophy for national champion they had on display.

Now, at times I have vented on the IWU contingent.  But, Jesus, I never knew about the Pigs!

Where the hell are they?  And why haven't I seen them!!

Pistol and Q, you are killing me!  with laughter.

And to think DP was responsible,  there is a God.

Actually, Dennis' heat and body odor problem exists in all gyms regardless of their age or size.  I am having trouble with the mental image of a sliver of the bleachers being stuck in Dennis' best side.  Somehow a whole row of the bleachers comes to mind.

I could never have imagined that I would ever hear of NCAA championship trophy described as a "lame trophy."  Wow!!!!   Being disappointed in the first viewing of that is beyond description.  Maybe if it had a TV screen in the middle with cartoons available  it would be more appealing to The Roop.  Yikes!!

The Roop

Joe,

I'm thinking of it more from this point. Winning the National Championship is great, the trophy itself should also be.

Gee, and I thought the heat, humidity and salty popcorn inthe Hangar were just a ploy to sell more $2.00 bottles of water ::)

Carthage sure did a number on both Wheaton teams last night!

I just got some pigs insured today, does that count for anything?
