After reading all of these points I realize I am so out of this loop :(. There does not seem to be a group of more recent members that stay on the boards. Here and there you see new names, but not too many.

geez Greg, I am disappointed not to make your list. I remember posting when the site was on the centennial conference website. I know I was just a football poster for most of my early years, but I remember reading this board from the start.

The old site didn't have a message board, which is why we didn't have a board for a year after we started.
As usual Pats memory is better than mine. (It gets worse with age Pat!) I do remember posting on the football board about as early as opossible and I remember going on the centenial conf site to read up on D3, limited as it was back then. If I had realized I gave up my rank while on vacation I would have done it differently.  Oh well.

Back to basketball. I am still amazed at how razor thin the pool C decisions are in terms of subjectivity of criteria. All the posters had different ideas about the last few teams in the field. Regardless, its pretty clear IWU was hanging on a thread and if they hadn't gotten in, D3 would have missed perhaps the best game of the year and yet another late pool C team making a tourney run. Congrats to all the CCIW. In a year with so much parity, it must give our teams a competitive advantage to have to travel to remote gyms and compete night in and night out. Here's to 3 CCIW teams in the elite 8 and 2 in the final four!

I was surprised that I was as low as 9933.  I'm definitely more of a regular over on the football board, but I don't really remember when I first found out about it.  I do remember the boards being much more vitriolic (sp?) in my first few years around.  I actually remember thinking sometimes that the debates were a bit like the Old West. I don't think people have become complacent about their teams (quite the contrary in fact), I just think the members have become better at governing the content on the boards.  I don't remember the old boards having a "karma" function, which I think has helped.  My personal favorite was the old "cabonney rule."  Ask Ypsi about it.

Hopefully, after he reads your post, he will share the story :)

Predictions for this weekend

I'm really on the fence for the UWW-Wheaton game.  I want to be a homer, but I just get that nagging feeling.  It primarily has to do with the offense of Wheaton getting stagnant now and again.  But, homerism it is!  WC 75  UWW 73

NCC 74 Wittenberg 69  Mitch Raridon has a monster game.  Gamble again proves he is the real deal.  I HATE PICKING NORTH CENTRAL!!!!!!!  ;D

I think IWU depends on Gonzalez, especially with the injury to Zimmer.  Zimmer proved what kind of player/person he was with that game against Hope.  However, he's still injured and there is speculation that he might be walking around in a boot all week.  If Gonzalez is able to fully involve Davis IWU 80 Woo 75.  If Woo is able to take that away, Woo 78  IWU 76.

As much as I know Mitch would love to play, I'll bet you any amount you want that he'll not see even 1 second of PT this weekend.  ;)

For those wondering, the site was launched (relaunched, really) in November 1997. The board launched a year later.
Any original posters still around?

If you hover over a poster's name on the left side, you'll see a number at the end (u=xxxxxx). The lower the number, the more original the poster. My admin handle is 1, my regular posting handle is 6, Warren Thompson is 7, Greg Sager is 27, hopefan is 62.

a number befitting my current age!!!!  I'm really thrilled that I hit D3Hoops so early!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Mr. Ypsi

I remember that there was a cabonney rule, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is/was.  (Yet I remembered the swamp tennies! :P)  Anyone recall 'my' rule? ;D

Was it something about you couldn't post opinions if you hadn't been to a game in 35 years? :)

Bingo! ;D

Since the rule no longer applies, I can now be as opinionated as I wish! 8-)
