Probably would have been easier to just bus to Chicago... and then fly.

IWU got its travel itinerary today from the NCAA.  How is this for a bad route to Salem tomorrow...

* Drive from Bloomington to Moline, IL (2 hours)

* The party splits up then, with 14 travelers flying through Atlanta to Roanoke, and 12 through Chicago

Ugh...what a mess.

Maybe Coach G will have the boys over for a barbecue in the Quad Cities?

I believe St. Thomas had a similar itinerary last year. I can vouch for it not being easy to fly into Roanoke from the west. There may not have been 26 seats available for Chicago-to-Roanoke, though, Dave. I'm sure they would have put them all together if they could.

It's also the first time I've ever heard of Moline being on the way to... well, anywhere.

At least your going, I think a lot of teams wish they had only a two hour drive

Hard to believe the don't just drive to Chicago and fly from there. It would seem to be much easier that way.

Updated Massey ratings...

http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cb&yr=2012&sub=11620

All 4 teams in Salem are in Massey's top 8...

#1 UW-Whitewater
#2 MIT
#4 Illinois Wesleyan
#8 Cabrini

That makes for a great Final Four field.

Compare that with the d3hoops.com poll:

#3 MIT
#5 Cabrini
#8 UWW
t31 IWU

Not saying one is 'more accurate' than the other, just an interesting comparison.  Massey, of course, has the advantage of updating in light of the tourney so far - d3hoops.com's poll is the last before the tourney began.

Yeah, an interesting comparison of oranges and orange peels. Come on now, Ypsi -- it's even less relevant than your edit makes it seem.

Actually, I lean towards the d3hoops.com poll being the 'better' reference when both are the same time period - it was not by any means meant as a 'shot'.

FWIW, I had IWU #24 in the latest PP (same games as your last poll).  Based on their 'total resume', they are a most unlikely FF team.  My hope comes from the 2010 baseball season! ;D

Because that would have required two busses, I imagine. One to take 12 to Chicago and one to take 14 to Moline to get the flight to Atlanta. Two busses means more money.

What a bizarre itinerary, "road to Salem," for the Titans.  Just hope they have some good I-Pod tunes, selections and just chill out along the way.  Another road adventure, with a wave to Coach G as they fly out of Moline.  "See you next year, Coach G" -- see you next year Doggies.   :)  Just say'in.  I'm sure that jacket will fly off the wing as the plane ascends toward Chicago or Atlanta, on its way to SALEM!!!

Get to Salem, enjoy the early Spring in the Virginia countryside and get ready for some tough matchups this weekend.  I share Ypsi's view, views expressed by others, that if the Titans play tough, play their game and shoot the ball reasonably well, they should beat Cabrini in the semis.  As others have pointed out, the SOS difference will be a big telling factor, IMHO.  MIT-WW is a tough call, not sure about that one.  I guess I'd go with WW given their league and SOS, though MIT has played very well through their bracket so far and seems to have lots of weapons.  Personally, I'd love to see an IWU-MIT final, as well . . . I'll cheer for the Titans and my son, who was at MIT recently for his M.A. degree, will likely go with the "Engineers."  We'll see.

Have fun in Salem, all!!!  Wish I could be there.

Pat, I think you can take down your "readers poll" on the men's tourney, as it appears the Engineers are gaming your poll.  Guess they learned from Chicago and Mayor Daley long ago about ballot stuffing, poll voting.  To paraphrase, where there are two or three engineers gathered together, there shall be 800-900 votes. . .

Shall we say "Titans stomp Engineers" or perhaps we'll let the WIAC do that first.  Time will tell . . .
