Poster "Hoosier Titan" has taught at both IWU and MIT...

I'm sure that would be a neat national championship game for her!

I've driven past both IWU and MIT does that count?  :)

If it makes you happy---yes!! :)

Driving past IWU you get to see Tobin's Pizza and the local chapter of AA, often in session.  One has to keep one's dentures in place as the holes in the Bloomington roads can shake them loose, washboard city.   Driving past MIT you drive a bit more and you get to drive past Harvard, the lovely Charles River, downtown Boston (darkened by a blackout last night!), Fenway Park in the distance, and some of the great cultural and research institutions of the world!  (and, for me, some decent Chinese food!).  DP, I think for you and me, perhaps it would help, but I'm not so sure.

Cabrini looks to be a pretty tough out -- with some great players and story lines as well.  Titans will have to play tough D, shoot a good percentage, and win the turnover, rebounding battles.  In other words, play like they have been playing the last four games.  Nice coverage on Cabrini and George Fox by D3hoops.  On the women's side, George Fox is probably better than last year, too, with a 6'5" center that will be very tough to stop.

Pat, thanks for changing the readers poll, letting the MIT hacks, hackers have their fun.  Wonder if the Engineering nation will turn up in Salem in any great numbers.  Philly also close by --4-5 hour drive to Salem.  Whitewater has a long, long trip to make.

Have fun in Salem . . . and Holland, all!  As Q has said, it is a great time, esp. for the deserving players and programs.

GO TITANS!!! -- double happiness.

IWU70

P.S.  Excellent piece in the pgraph today about Victor Davis and another article about how Dennie Bridges has chosen to go to Holland, to support Mia Smith, and not go to Salem this go 'round.  President Wilson will be in Salem!  Hope the Titan nation turns out in droves.  ms

IWU70,

You'll undoubtedly pass AA chapters in Boston/Cambridge as well!

The biggest difference between driving past MIT and IWU would be, of course, the other drivers.  Not much time for looking around when dealing with Boston cabbies and locals looking for a place to park. They dart across lanes like hungry piranhas going after a minnow.  I forget if this was true at MIT, but at another place I worked in Boston, one had to pay $150 per semester for a parking sticker--and that was a hunting license, not a guarantee of a place to park.  Some of the beauties of smaller cities in the Midwest are more space, more parking, and cheaper everything.

Good luck to all making the trek to Salem by whatever means!
You'll never walk alone.

   - Awful Arthur's Seafood Co. in downtown Roanoke (a bar/grill) is a great place to watch D1 games and grab something to eat - http://www.awfularthurs.com/

if i'm not mistaken, there is an awful arthurs in Salem as well (not far from the dennys and various hotels).  the food was absolutely terrible, but the beer was cold and cheap.  we also had a ton of fun there watching the D1 games and listening to a skynyrd cover band.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgement day,

Having worked there for seven years, the key to driving and parking in Boston is to never use your turn signal :o :P

Interesting point Bridges made about Ron Rose's trip to the Final Four:

"I told him getting to the Final Four is a huge step.  I was in my ninth try before I finally got there. I don't think it's really hit him yet."

This will be my 10th trip to Salem.  A few miscellaneous notes for anyone heading there for the first time...
Since it's going to be so epicly nice this weekend, anyone who likes hiking should check out Cascades Waterfall in Jefferson National Forest, probably about an hour from Salem. It's about a four mile hike, but not too terribly strenuous and both very pretty on the way up as well as a big payoff at the end.

My other free random environmentalist fact is that Annie Dillard, a great modern naturalist writer, went to Hollins College in the Roanoke Area, and her most famous work, "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" is named after a place actually in the area.

Also, Awful Awthur's is not good particularly seafood. You can't get truly great seafood 3.5 hours from the ocean, though I suppose Roanoke is closer to the ocean than Illinois, lol. I still really like that place anyway though I don't really know why. Maybe because it's pretty, and I am a girl?

Mac & Bob's was always my "must go to". They're more or less the main hangout spot for Roanoke College (which is in Salem, what?) students so it would probably be the preferable place for the younger IWU crowd, including pricewise.

Maybe Coach G will have the boys over for a barbecue in the Quad Cities?
"Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, our flight will be delayed momentarily, it seems someone has thrown what appears to be a sports jacket onto the wing of the aircraft."
I know I am late to the party, but this is such an epic quote I don't think anyone will mind me bringing it back up. Good one! It's moments like this that I wish I could give Karma  :'(

If it makes you happy---yes!! :)
I've been sitting here trying to think of something cool I have done in relationship to both schools for the last three straight minutes, but I can't think of anything. I've only seen a movie that took place at one (MIT), I've only been to one (IWU), I only got asked to apply to one (MIT), I've only met posters from one (IWU), and I am only rooting for one in Salem (MIT). Oh well, I guess Dennis can remain the narcissistic one. ;)

By the way, since no one else as said as much, let me be the first to say that I am seriously impressed that Hoosier Titan taught at MIT. I wonder what it was like to teach a romance language to a bunch of physics and math nerds...

Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan
What are Parkers now supposed to chant after every NP vs WC game, "Let's go enjoy tobacco products off-campus? - Gregory Sager
