He sounds like a great guy as well as a knowledgable coach. Seems like he really enjoys his job!

By the way, since no one else as said as much, let me be the first to say that I am seriously impressed that Hoosier Titan taught at MIT. I wonder what it was like to teach a romance language to a bunch of physics and math nerds...

It is hard to teach anything other than physics and math to physics and math nerds... ;D ;D ;D

Um, I teach astronomy and physics, which makes me a physics and math nerd too.  :D

I did learn the rudiments of Spanish at MIT.  They have a terrific humanities program.  And, as the links to the MIT student hacks demonstrate, they are very creative!

Of course, I'm going to Holland this weekend, where I have no connections with any other school whatsoever beyond the Titans.   Go figure.

It would hard to summarize all of Coach Stein's talents and abilities in one post.  They will certainly be heavily featured in my book- On the road with the Titans.

Hoosier Titan

Nice piece about Coach Stein.  It's always instructive to sit behind the bench during JV games just to hear him.  (Coaches Rose and Smith are good, of course, but during varsity games the crowd and band usually drown them out).  Stein is clear and focused.  He doesn't make it complicated and he always focuses on one or two things.  He's a great teacher and he clearly has the players' respect.

Actually, I don't think I've ever met any NCC posters. There weren't a lot of regulars from there on the basketball boards back when I was still in college.

Haha, that's what I get for trying to read anything on the internet and post anything intelligible about it at 2am after working 12 straight hours. I must have gotten distracted by your last name. :o :-[ For what it's worth, I definitely wasn't making digs at physics nerds, as I was a Physics major when I applied to colleges. Once I decided to go to Wheaton, Physics didn't really make sense though. We have a department but it's not very good (on my prospective student visit I was answering all the questions in class) and it was more or less in the dungeon of one of our buildings. everything else at Wheaton is obviously perfect though. :-X Anyway, there's definitely a relative lack of women in Physics, particularly when you first started, so I think that's super awesome.

Actually, I think pretty much everyone on this board is a nerd for posting about D3basketball on an internet chat board, but that's a whole other issue. ;)
