As long as the regular season champion gets into the tourney, I have no problem with the tournament champ giving us a second team in the real tournament. Let's face it most of us thought going into the season that IWU would win both the regular season title and the conference tourney. Now IWU fans think the conference tourney is the best thing since sliced bread.

For the record I still say IWU is a lead pipe cinch to be in the NCAA tournament.

Satan pooch,  (Sorry, I like to be creative with names)

I was a player like you at the NCAA level (I'm assuming), and I have lost a game in a tourney in which we should have won.  At the time, I felt cheated.  So I understand that at a personal level.  The simple fact was we got beat by a team that shouldn't have beat us, and it was definitely the wrong time for that to happen.  It wasn't the system's failure, we had no one to blame but ourselves.  Yes, this is one example, but it is valid and true.

I forget who it is, but someone on the boards has a negative karma in the three digits.

We did have a poster over on the CCIW football board who had over 2x the negative karma to actual posts (something like -35 karma with only 15 posts).  It wasn't so much based on what he posted, but his moniker - "Hugh Jass".  Most thought he was using a childish, somewhat offensive play on words as his user name.  We later discovered (if his claim is true) that it is in fact his name.
I don't think so - I checked the online IWU Alumni directory and the 03/04 Campus Directory out of curiosity. Unless this poster is either a freshman or did not graduate;  somebody having a good joke!

You know that I know that Dee Brown's stats come vs  Division 1 point-guards and Adam's come vs Division III guys.  You also know that I know that Brown is going to get drafted this summer and Dauksas is going to get ready for law school.  If I'm picking a team to play a pickup game, yes, I take Dee first!

The other D3 candidate for the Cousy award, Wooster's Kyle Witucky, is also going to law school next year.  Coincidence, or can we imply something about the personality of the small college point guard from this?

As we speak, Witucky has 2502 votes (6%), good for 6th overall from the field of 16 candidates.  Dauskas has just 225 votes, which is still 9th (6 of the candidates have fewer than 35 votes apiece.)

Wezzlyn fans complaining about how hot the gym was, slivers from the bleachers, white painted walls, how the place smells (last night it smelled like a AARP meeting). If you don't like NC gym you should stay at home and feed the pigs or sell some insurance.
How quickly you forget the arm pit that was Fred Young Fieldhouse. While attending the Jack (Never Showed Up) Sikma basketball camp a rat ate my lunch.
I did notice how no Wezzlyn fans complained about how poorly the game last night was officiated. Typical.

Pistol, I didn't want to mention the officiating down the stretch of the NCC/IWU game.  However, since you mentioned it I feel obliged to bring it up again.  In big games in the CCIW over the years, which ever team gets the calls in the 1st half of the game will not get the calls down the stretch in the second half of the game.  There were several calls made/missed/overlooked down the stretch of that game in IWU's favor.  A foul, 3 seconds, several over the backs(pushs).
There were 19 fouls called both ways on each team.  FT-FTA / % - IWU 12 - 19  @63.2% ; NCC 10 - 18 @ 55.6%   Neither the best nor far from the worst officiating.

And, as Cardinalpride notes some calls went in IWU's favor.  Some also went in NCC's favor - two step travel juggling the ball for a timeout, step out of bounds while driving under the basket where the out of position official backed up rather than watching the play and hooks/grabs under the bucket.

If anything, coaches, players and officials seemed a little more cautious following the crash that ended with Schweer bouncing his head off the court leaving the game with what may turn out to be a broken nose.  Really nothing overall with the officiating to complain about.  Two good teams played really hard to win.

If Hugh Jass is your only source to his actual name; I'm not sure how convinced I'd be.

I wasn't either... but he did give his full name in a post that is still somewhere over on the CCIW football board.  It did lend some cursory plausibility to the name.  But who really knows... (and I have a tendency to take people at their word)

Where does Dauksas appear in the ranking for assists?  I think his 6.6 APG is his best stat, followed very closely by shooting 45% from trey land.

Dee Brown will not make an NBA squad next year.

Ahh, you are a true wheatie. Be careful about that in this board though, it may come back to haunt you.  :(

Whoa... guess I'm done speaking of someone on the CCIW football post whose very moniker leads to immediate karma drops for all who mention the name.  To those out there, I apologize for even bringing up the name as my karma has received a sudden hit for even thinking about "the name." I'll respectfully head back into my cave until the football season starts again. ;D

Ha!   CardinalAlum... You're killing me.    :)  Just glad I serve as the Pick 'ems scapegoat.  Unfortunately in attempt to catch up I have reverted to picking some upsets I really shouldn't have... although I was close on the NCC/IWU game.

Well Warren I've been waiting for this question for some time.  I knew it would come and the answer is...the handle is neither.  I have the unfortunate luck of having crappy parents and believe it or not my name is Hubert Jass.  My friends gave me this handle in jr high and I've been stuck with it ever since.

Mugsy,
I think this was the explanation from Mr. Jass. I'm pretty sure he was leg-pullin'. As far as IWM looking him up in the Wesleyan alumni directory, I always got the impression that Hugh was an Augie supporter, I could be wrong. Either way, I don't think he'll be in their alumni directory either (at least under Hugh, or Hubert, Jass).

Like I said... I have an affinity for taking people at their word.  Unfortunately I didn't recall the context of his explanation.  Given what you just said, I'd agree he was pulling one over and his karma level is probably appropriate.  It also validates my karma taking a hit for being so gullible.  I'll make way for some actually bball talk now.
