Trost article...

Not much of an award, is it? I mean, there's only four D2 men's basketball programs in the state of Illinois (Lewis, UIS, McKendree, and Quincy). Kind of takes the edge off of an award when you realize that you're competing with only three other guys for it every year.

A 17-12 record nets COY honors? Hmmmmmmm
Just think, if Augie was a DII school, Stomper Giovanine could have been Coach Of The Year for coaching basketball in addition to his win in the Sport Coat Toss category.  ;D

I thought the same thing, but I just thought I would pass it along.

Imagine how the other three feel not winning it.

I think Trost and Coach G are in the same category, same kind of coaches.  Coach G tosses his coat and stomps, Trost tosses his players and stomps.  Perhaps both were "Drama" majors in undergrad.  Just say'in.  I much prefer the "relative" calm of Coach Rose.

Trost's quote in the linked article:

"It is nice to be recognized, but more importantly, it speaks volumes about the quality of my staff (Adam DeMong, Neal Young and Kevin Dix) and the type of players we have in our program," Trost said.

---

It's kind of a no-win situation for the coach that is named the winner in a situation like this.  You don't necessarily ask/campaign for the award, but if you do win it, niceties dictate that you say the obligatory pleasantries in the press release.  And, as was suggested above, winning it is probably better than not winning it.

I suspect it will not be the centerpiece of his mantle.

Newton H.S. senior Peyton Wyatt committs to Elmhurst.  6'2", 180 lbs shooting guard.  IBCA second team all state.  1,500+ career points.  Haven't seen him play, but heard a lot about him.  Good pickup for Elmhurst.

Some recruiting news on the Crusader front...  Wheaton reloading their backcourt and getting a Wash U transfer in the process.

You win some, you lose some, and sometimes it rains.

North Central has received word from Kevin Honn of Downers Grove South that he will be attending school in Naperville next year, and will be a member of the 2012-2013 Cardinal basketball team.

A 6'5" SF, Kevin played on a DGS team that finished 23-6, and featured two D1 recruits. Despite their presence, Kevin was still a major factor in his team's success, and averaged 11.6 ppg and 6.3 rpg.
He was named to both the West Suburban Conference All-Conference team, and the Daily Herald DuPage County All-Area team.

Kevin, who received interest from several midwest region schools, including major consideration from CCIW rival Carthage, is a very nice pickup for the Cardinal program.

That's big news for Wheaton.  Teuscher was good as a freshman for Wash U, and looks well on his way to becoming a very good Division III 2-guard.  I have no doubt he will be an all-CCIW player in time.

Freshman year stats @ Wash U- 17.4 minutes per game, 7.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, 28-72 3-point (.382), 55-63 FT (.873).

The brothers Teuscher sounds a little bit like the Zimmers brother act.  Looking forward to seeing how Brady has rehabbed and recovered and what kind of impression he can make at the 2 next season for the Titans.

More recruiting news coming in the next few weeks as the enrolment and deposit deadlines hit.
